Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

For Pension Invested Ex-GE Employees (Or Soon To Be)

https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnmauldin/2019/10/21/how-ge-screwed-over-its-retirees/#52266bfb2b7e.

I was swept up in the wave of engineers laid off (and pushed out as early retirees) from GE Aviation back in 2016. Now I'm watching the problems of the company translate into personal pain for many who committed their time, like I did, to a company that does not value loyalty. Facing facts, it has been this way for a long time starting with Jack Welch. I wish you, your families and friends all the best during what may be a trying time. Stay informed and hopefully you'll make good choices that improve your outlook for the future.

If you live past 75, it'll have been the wrong move. Only time will tell.

I worked at GE from 1985 to 1993. In Sept 2017 I got a letter from GE offering a pension lump sum payment. I only had roughly 1 week to decide and fax back my response. I took the lump sum of roughly $49,000. I was 56 years old. It was that or I would have to wait until I was 65 to start a pension of roughly $430 a month. I am happy with the decision.

The Good Ole' Boys Club could Not care Any less about the ones who built the company to the greatness which it Used to tout.
They will sell out Anyone for the sake of getting more of those "Benjamin's" in their Off Shore Accounts that are so highly worshipped at the putting green.
So don't count your $$$'s until it's in the bank, your future isn't worth a plug nickel to those "For whom the Bell tolls."

For those who were offered a pension buyout...how much were you offered for your years of service? Was it negotiable?

"Culp is now in the business of survival, not happiness"

Should be posted in every GE place of business.
