Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Management doesn't care about you.

Management doesn't care about you. All they care about is numbers. Work you to death. They sent out to area that you don't know. You must deliver all your stops.

Maybe management should be outsourced to TCS/HCL as well. Would make the stockholder very happy.

I remember one stretch from 83-97. They paid you double commission for the rest of the year when you hit your annual revenue goals. For 15 years I made double commission anywhere from May until November.

During the early 90s I picked a route that had a New major Walmart and there were a few years I made 100000 in the month of November and december. Those were days where people were doing anything to become a Pepsi driver

I used to have a side bat route with 3 stores on a local grocery chain back in the 80s. They would forklift off the product and the union store employees had to be the ones to fill. I made well over 135K per year working 7-1. When I say working 7-1 I mean I sat at the plant until 8:15 met a few buddies for an egg sandwich or an omelette until 9:30 and then dropped of my semi by 10:30 and hung out in the market to around 12:15.

That was the golden age of pop. Now you have people running entire buildings making that. Our general managers back then all cleared 300K per year. Truly an era of the pop careers

It would really be tough being a route driver today if you know what we made as drivers 30-35 years ago. In my area, drivers made 125-225% of what an average Masters degree earned. And worked Monday through Friday. Those were the glory days. Driver made much more than their supervisors.

Yeah, it’s route sales. You deliver all stops on the route that are scheduled, kind of like a mail carrier. Your phone has mapping if you aren’t sure where you are going. Did you interview before coming on board? That’s like being a cook at McDonald and whining about making burgers. Now get to work

They hardly work you to death. Problem now a days is everyone wants a paycheck but won’t work for it. Sure they want you to hit all your stops as it cost more money to send someone to a far out area to pickup your slack the next day. If you want something easy go work for McDonald’s.
