Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Not everyone is a fit to work with the public

I have worked in retail and with the public many years. People are often rude. Some are also nice. Not everyone is a fit to work with the public. Just seeing some of the posts on this board I can tell it. I am not trying to sound mean but if you are crying every shift I think it is time to think about a non people job.. You should not be getting verbally abused but sadly it happens. Try to let it go if you remain in a retail job. If you cannot change fields. IWhat I see on this board a lot is posters thinking their issues are BBB specific. They are not. Big.Box retail is more alike then different.

Well said, @1uph+152Q8CgG.

Hey There!

I am the person who wrote what you see above as a REPLY on a thread. Looks like someone copied and pasted my reply to make it a new topic. (See the last line) I wish they would have said it. Im glad they liked my thoughts but i did not intend it to be a new topic.

To the person yelling about people buying non essential items..talk to your state and local government as they are the ones who decide what is essential and what is not. I am not "sitting at home" as you assumed. You know nothing about my experience but I can attest that some customers have always been rude and yes stores have been taking it for a looong time. Also where did I ever say I was a manager? Reread my reply. It was not meant to be mean. My main point is/was not everyone is "wired" to work with the public. It is not a bad thing but it is true. You sound very angry..but please do not take it out on me.

NO ONE HAS A RIGHT TO BE ABUSED BY A CUSTOMER EVER AND IF THE COMPANY DOESNT HAVE THEIR BACK AND HANDLE THAT CUSTOMER WELL THEY SHOULD BE A MANAGER, To work with the public u need compassion which clearly u dont have so back off them, this is awful times and if ppl "NEED" bed sheets or patio furniture NONESSENTIAL things from a NONESSENTIAL store during a crisis well then commend that person for going to work and risking getting sick by some arrogant person NEEDING (and i use that word lightly) something from a retail store thats non essential in the first place cause ESSENTIALS can be bought at the grocery store gas station or pharmacy , i think you shouldnt be in retail SMH and your attitude is not surprising , if your kid was bullied at school you would prob say toughen up it happens all the time SMH shame on you , back in the day retail stores DIDNT put up with customers c-ap and still shouldnt

This is a place to vent, ever think that the person crying is the one dealing with the public durning a pandemic while 80 percent of the company remains furloughed? It's easy to say let it go when you're at home not dealing with it. The person on that original post took someone complaining about people durning covid as just complaining about people being rude and those are two different things. Yes big box is all the same, yes people complaining on here need to think about job choices, but it's a place to complain and vent freely without a cookie cutter manager response of "oh just find a new job if it bothers you so much"
