Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Best decision I have made in ages

I got out on my own.
In 10+ years I was not allowed to move up into any better position, but I was allowed to have my job "re-written" and altered at their whim. I was also "allowed" to do the work of other, higher paid folks including managers, but not allowed to have those jobs or pay rates. All I got were excuses and platitudes.
I left with full intention to sit on my backside for about a half a year and live off of my investments/interest. And I actually felt a little guilty for leaving, thinking I was foolish for walking away from either a golden handshake (aka "package" that was never an option) or unemployment insurance.
Within 2 days, I found a new employer and started the new job at double what I was making at the Belk. Ain't it funny how one gets fooled into being complacent for so long.. I honestly do not know how I got into that rut and allowed myself to tolerate their nonsense for so long.
Best decision I have made in ages.

Whenever a company starts having you do the jobs of other people for no pay, that is a red flag the company is in trouble. “belk one” or whatever they call it, is nothing more than a pay cut for employees and a bigger work load. Please, if you can, get out of this company.
