Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Any Word On Furloughs Moving to Layoffs?

Hearing rumors that not everyone who is still on furlough will be brought back. Seems the company is doing well with just limited store teams and direction to stores via video meetings and portal/email communication. So many people at the corporate, region, and division level have been on furlough for over two months now and no word or update regarding call backs.

bringing back rdos means bad news for dvps. No need for dvps and they could be cut along with investigators

Getting burned out in the stores. Not enough people to keep up, especially in AYS where the returns have been backbreaking, everything is piling up in the back and other places where returns get done too. Can't do recovery at all. If someone calls out there's too few people to call to see if they will pick up that shift. Everyone is working on the floor on registers and we still have lines. We came pretty close to beating last year today! Bring back more people! It's too much!

Why Macys is keeping only H1B employees in IT ? There are several other employees who are very talented than current working employees. Is it talanted/skill based or visa based ?

Yeah. I guarantee they are coming back to help figure out job cuts and store closures. Sadly what will happen is, the stores have brought back their best leaders first, they will get worn out and leave. There are many places hiring even during this. That will leave stores with the “c” players to lead us back, not a good idea. And every store leader getting an email today about the “summer hours” program for corporate people is insulting, we can hardly take a day off let alone think about vacation. But hey we can carry two weeks to next year which I’m sure they’re counting on half of us leaving by then.

The rdos.’s Are probably coming back to Help figure out how jobs will change and help restructure all levels of management across the country, what hours look like the rest of the year, do we adjust store closures etc. The fact is with sales where they are they have to cut staffing across the board.

The rdos.’s return on Tuesday. Unbelievable that we’d bring them back before more store leadership. My store is open we almost made plan and we did 200 curbside orders with just. Me. My store Mgr and my ops Mgr. We can’t even take a pto day while rdos will come back wanting to do virtual visits right away.

We have been on several calls where it was made clear that we will be smaller at all levels when we re-open for the fall season. Don't expect to see a rush to bring back non-essential people regardless of their position, as a matter of fact, mid level regional and divisional managers add little real value as the company is finding out.

Things are going smoothly without the need to filter direction from central leaders through regional and divisional teams. Why pay glorified cheerleaders to nag and nitpick store managers, often distorting and revising the message with their own opinions and feelings. Bring them back last if at all, we can be smaller, leaner, faster, without the countless conference calls, requests for actions plans, and other tasks that take us away from our teams and customers while adding little to no value.

The stores are running bare bones. Most leaders are working 6 days per week and no talks of any additional teams coming back yet. It would be a terrible decision to bring division or regional teams back before adding more into the stores.
