I am hearing lists are being made and ranked according to different categories. Not just those furloughed but alot of others are going to take deep cuts with the TN re-org.

Hell YES those people that retired deserved their severance. I am glad many of them were smart enough to take it. i wish I would have taken the severance, but I made a bad decision based on what my Management told me. I don't blame them either as they did not know how everything was going to be determined. It was above their pay grade as well.
Be happy for those that put in the hard work with Sabre after over 20 years of service many of them deserved the severance. Good for all of you who took it!!!

Just to be clear, one of my best people took early retirement. That person will be greatly missed and did an excellent job. Your opinion that everyone that took Sev was bad is completely wrong. That person was offered a good buyout, they took it. I just wish I could have gotten the same offer. Quit making generalizations about 100's and even 1000's of people you don't even know.
Ive seen the list of people taking early retirement. Believe me, I'm not bitter. Those were people who knew they should leave Sabre and just needed the push out the door.
Everyone had the chance to take voluntary severance. Don’t be bitter because you made the wrong decision and stayed with the company. You made your bed and now lie in it. Don’t say nasty things about people who chose to leave.
Wonder if benefits will be the same for those on the list?

Voluntary severance was an option for all eligible US employees. Most of the people I know that applied were long time employees that excel at their job. At the time there was no way of predicting how things are going to turn out in the future. It could have turned out to be a short recovery and choosing severance would have meant giving up the job they liked and everything they have worked for all these years such as seniority and benefits and start from scratch at a new company. Minimum severance started at 16 weeks for people with just 1 year of service. So any body complaining about severance, just remember you had the same option but did not take it. So no point hating others for something that was your choice. You always have a choice and who knows may be the company will layoff and the person(s) complaining about severance will get their share.
I took voluntary severance and feel very lucky to have been approved. I know many who were not. My job has always been a luxury to Sabre. I have worked hard for the company and the customers lived working with me. I made huge differences in the way my group evolved. So much of the hate on here appears to be from dev groups. Many jobs cannot be outsourced, mine for one. But I have never been essential to Sabre and I know it. So after much consideration, I volunteered. The furlough occurred before my last day. I feel many will not be called back and Sabre will emerge a much leaner company. Hopefully some of the bad management will be gone. But many of us who volunteered are already being contacted for new opportunities. This isn’t because we were ‘dead weight’, it’s because we are highly qualified, proven and respected in the industry. Sabre loses and the sad thing is that many of us didn’t want to go.
Go ahead and hate.
If you left Sabre then just leave this site as well. You have nothing to add and you aren't part of the company anymore. No one wants you here either.
No good deed goes unpunished.
But seriously, if you were nonessential enough to successfully volunteer for a furlough then you should not be surprised at all by getting furloughed later.
What did you expect Sabre to do?
Should Sabre just keep nonessential people on the payroll in charitable gratitude?
I really hope you ensured your finances were in order before you volunteered to be furloughed.
Is it essential for Sabre that you return from your furlough on July 6th?
If not then do not be surprised if you do not return for a while after July 6th because the reason for needing the furlough then is still no different now.
Almost nobody is truly essential but if you know you definitely are not essential then try to find another job where you are at least more essential. Unless you just like getting laid off whenever things get bad.
I know someone that took an unpaid furlough in hopes that it would help others... then at the end of the voluntary furlough.... that person was ‘furloughed”.
I'm impressed there are those here that will tell you they're laying down their careers at this point for the hope that someone else will keep their jobs. Much love there. While that may be a side "feel good" angle to things, come on people. I can only speak for myself. I chose early retirement because I felt I would be let go by the company either now or in the next year or so. I'd be stupid not to take the deal, especially if I truly believed that (I do). I'm a good worker/contributor who liked his job. But for the past several years, we've all been told that within the next few years, most jobs would be moved overseas. There was no secret there, it was openly said. With that hanging over my head, then this pandemic hit, the writing was on the wall. The pandemic just fast forwarded the company's plans. No hard feelings. It is what it is.
I have to agree. If those who took the retirement package were doing so to protect their fellow employees, they should have retired and turned down the package. Perhaps the company had to offer a package to get rid of them.
@1huf+153WVgny you can barely compose a correct sentence so what makes you an expert? All that hate and anger because you were too ignorant to apply for the package? Waste of time you are.
Well those who took the retirement were just hanging on and barely doing a decent job. When the retirement package came it was just another way to stick it to Sabre by taking much more than you deserved. Many I spoke to were giddy at finally able to split from Sabre while sticking to the company one last time. You were doing nothing and you know who you are.
Agree, many of us took the voluntary in hopes we would be able to save a job for someone else and believe me, the majority of us were not ready to leave yet. We liked working for Sabre and it was a very hard decision to make. Stop being bitter, and stop blaming us for clearly knowing it was in our best interest to volunteer/retire. I deserve my severance backed by over 28 years of giving my all to Sabre. Grow up and move on please.
I think you need to get your facts straight. Many who volunteered to take severance probably saved another person’s job and had a lot more tenure than 15 years. And the program was offered to everyone so the fact you didn’t take it was your decision. Everyone made their own personal decisions for various reasons. Now move forward.
And now people who took the severance of 39 weeks ( not talking about the people who took retirement) will be compensated by Sabre for full 10 months on full salary and people who stayed will still go through salary cut, furloughs and lay-off. These were the people who joined Sabre 1-2 years back on director positions. Most of them are already getting the second job too. What an irony.
