Various departments have said layoffs next week. Anyone know anything?

Yeah, they asked everyone to make a list of what they did before layoffs last week. Just actual wtf. Y’all don’t know what your employees do? Not to be rude but half the staff employees on our team don’t do their work so PBEs were doing the work of 2 people. It’s some bs. I think layoffs will be in both sides. Just know that Viacom ppl said layoffs next week.
Viacom or CBS side?81
Same here, Anonymous. I actually had to inform my own manager that I had been laid off. They were left in the dark.
What group were you in anonymous. LA or NY? Who made the call? Someone you didn’t know ?
The people who fired me had no idea what I did. I was told there wasn't much work, but actually I had been really busy every hour of each day since we started WFH. This is a place where incompetency and pencil-pushing are rewarded, and real talent often gets boxed out and sabotaged. Good luck rescuing this company with the greedy apparatchiks that will be left once these layoffs are over.
I think that they say it's pre covid-19 but, I can see them pivoting to those who aren't as working as much due the health crisis and keeping those who might be working more now. A couple weeks ago people were asked what their work load was.
So I think the timing is suspect.
Yes. The Youth and Entertainment Group was told the week of the 27th. It was stated that these layoffs were not Covid 19 related and were part of the initial merger layoffs planned before the pandemic. Whether that is true or not, who knows.
