Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Retrenchment

In past retrenchment exercises think 2018 and 2009 was there any general trend as to how it was decided who would get laid off? Seniority - last in first out, points based, or functions based? Etc.

Salary over performance is usually how it goes.

i have not been asked for a list yet, but i certainly expect it to happen.
I'm also betting the next round will be executed in July. (planned in late May/June).

Has anyone of you given names / list of employees for keeping light on?
What % of ppl opted for severance?

I'm sure it was the managers directors and VPs that complained about more mistreatment of them.

@1ums+14wsXgqQ the sites terms are pretty clear. If you name individual names, they will remove the posts. That thread had so many names in it, they didn't have much choice.

The same way people disappear from Sabre's office a full thread disappears from here. Guess not worth commenting...

The worst kept secret is Finance makes those decisions, not HR. Finance DICTATES to VPs and Directors how many people they can have, what their budget is, etc. You think we ever had a say in the decision - nope, couldn’t even get Finance schmucks to give details of OUR budget we were accountable for meeting. You think it’s HR’s fault? Nope. Finance makes more talent decisions than the “People” department.

Worst part about 2018 was HR were pulling the plug - Directors / VP had no say.

Not sure if this time around will be the same as well?

Wasn’t it a combination of your rating and salary ..?
