Forgive my ignorance... Lost some great PBEs in my department this week. We are very top heavy with executives who seem relatively unscathed with the layoffs so far. I’m trying to make sense of the below...
1) What did ViacomCBS make a $100M “pledge” towards for COVID relief if not to save our lowest paid employees?
2) Any mention of voluntary pay cuts for SVPs/EVPs/C-Suite (doesn’t VCBS have a reputation for many of them being overpaid?)
3) These layoffs week of April 27, is that going to be mostly junior level too or are they going to sacrifice ten coordinators per EVP travel budget?

Well I think when a company is trying to save money always freelancers are the first to go because not full-time.. What amazes me is that no higher ups are taking pay cuts like other companies....and this really shows viacomcbs’s character...lol... Its unclear what the layoffs in the couple weeks mean, If they lay off a lot of lower levels I'd be surprised because I think that's a dumb move..... it’s a weird flex but I wouldn’t be surprised.
My favorite thing about WFH and all these zoom calls is seeing all the higher ups nice homes or saying they are in multiple homes and saying how great we are doing but then silently layoff much of the junior staff :) .
I couldn’t agree more with OP. Most of these PBEs were doing more work than staff in my department. It’s a huge blow and wasn't right. Don’t really understand how it saves money considering they don’t even get benefits.
The poorest of the poor will be the rich man who built bigger barns to store up his treasures. But in their defense, the rich are now just more at risk in their crumbling mansions. It’s too late for the less talented to cut and run. Unless they are willing to surrender all and see what total sacrifice brings them. Dignity and $1200 bucks per person if their income drops to below certain levels.
