Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

While Employess get layed off this is what Halliburton does

While most U.S. companies are scaling back payouts after a decade in which the amount of money paid to investors through buybacks and dividends more than tripled, some are maintaining their policies despite the economic pain.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, Halliburton Co, General Motors Co and McDonald's Corp have all laid off staff, cut their hours, or slashed salaries while maintaining payouts, according to a Reuters review of regulatory filings, company announcements and company officials.

I was layed off during the failed merger, but this time its not Halliburton's fault and they need to do harsh cutbacks to survive. For those who are being let go, I know your supervisor/manager is probably a prick, but just say thanks for the opportunity and hope they will keep you in mind when the economy fires up again.

Lol just when I think Halliburton has done every sneaky underhanded trick imaginable, they sneak another trick on the people in the field. Now they are cutting our throats with not one thought to what the feature holds, that feature is oil will rebound 6 months to a year from this date and for the most part everyone with any knowledge has been kicked in the balls and not with Halliburton any longer! Best Halliburton can hope for at this point is a big hiring event and maybe out of mass hiring you might get a hand full of ppl that will stay off the cell phone and work! Oh but wait yea Halliburton does this very exact thing every time however the candidates just seem to get worse but I guess this time will be different, but if it isn’t I assume Halliburton is fine with loosing jobs to the competition

Only a fool signs their name without having it reviewed by an Employment Lawyer. However, don't have it reviewed by an Employment Lawyer if you ever want to work for Halliburton again.

Not just that but Halliburton is forcing employees age 40 and above that got laid off to sign paperwork stating that the reason for getting laid off is not age related however most of the people laid off was 40 y/o and above. But you had to sign the paperwork to get a severance package. Also if you get furloughed you are not told until your last day at work, so you go home and just before the furlough time starts you get a phone call that you have been laid off. I understand that everyone has fear of the unknown but I expect the company that I work so hard for when Iam sick, when Iam away from my family, when it’s raining, cold etc to treat us employees better than a used Walmart sack. I do applaud Jeff Miller and the others that sacrifice and took pay cuts, however what about the bonus money that y’all receive then look at your annual salary and compare it to the people that are getting furloughed and the ones that are getting laid off and then ask yourself this question am I really doing everything I can to help the situation or am I just making a small sacrifice which I balance out with bonuses in order to make myself look good to investors and the news media

Reminds me of Congressman and ObamaCare. Doing what’s best but are exempt from it by choice.
