Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

What if we refuse to come to work?

One of the coworkers at our store is out sick with symptoms similar to the Cocid-19 infection. As far as I know he wasn’t tested yet, or we still don’t have any info on whether he was tested. My manager says that we should continue working as usual until we have some more info on this. I’m scared and I definitely don’t want to infect my family. If I don’t come in to work doe to this situation would that be a good enough reason for them to lay me off. Al and all this is taking too long. Has anyone had any similar experiences?

I situation you are describing is also happening at my store and is likely happening at more stores than you know. I have no doubt Lowe's is doing everything they can to keep it under wraps from the public and other employees. At this point everyone I know working at the stores is feeling like we are playing Russian roulette and fully expecting a live round to be in the next chamber.

Yeah just go to work like there's nothing going on....exactly what management would say. You will be lucky if you hear anything, they love trying to hide it.

If you just want to take a few days until that’s sorted, it should only be a problem if you’re already having an attendance issue. You can use your pto to cover that.
