Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Is anybody safe?

I honestly don't think so, but I have a coworker who is convinced that he is safe due to his years with the company, among other things. I tried to get him to visit this page just to see that more years with Halliburton is more of a liability than an asset, but he wouldn't budge.

So I'm wondering, who is in the wrong here? Are there people who can genuinely consider themselves safe from the job-m—acre we are looking at?

No one has been safe in, at least, the past decade. I've seen them layoff key employees with 40 and 50 years of service.
If you have any personal items at work, take them home NOW!

Nobody's safe, had a supervisor who's been with the company for 19 years now get laid off today

Years of service alone won't help. If he has the right "sponsor" in a position to influence that decision, he would probably be fine.

BS there are definitely people that will never be touched. The "chosen few" and I'm not talking executives

Unfortunately ladies and gentlemen, there are no guarantees in life. You might think you are invaluable to the company but the bean counters at the top will cut you in a heartbeat. Why, because they are not down in the dirt, and they do not know what goes on day to day, except from the rose report summary they have from middle management tier. My uncle's famous quote, why are middle managers like cats? Because they love to cover their sh*t. And if you can corner a middle manager who is honest, they will tell you they can screw with people above and below them, that is the game.
Those at the top of the pyramid have the rosy glasses on and are delusional at best. They are more politicians than they are captains of industry....they lie to the BOD and to the underlings.

No one is safe this go round! About the only thing that would save you is if your very knowledgeable and making low wage on top of that, and that isn't even safe.
