Aside from the official company statements and deadlines, I was hoping to get some opinions on when the stores could open realistically and when we could return to work.
I got to be honest, while we were still working I was scared. The threat of being infected or infecting my family is scary, but the thought that I can’t provide for my family is equally frightening.
At this point I would accept to go back to the store and work, even for a reduced pay. Does anybody feel the same way?

I know the job market is slim but you must look for new jobs now either way.
if they try to cut pay, you need to ask them for a severance package, DO NOT ACCEPT A PAY CUT. Just walk away from the company.
I agree, don't ever sell yourself short to anyone. Belk just got downgraded by Moody. Now Belk is in worse shape than Macy's, which means we may not open afterall and we'll all have to look for other jobs. We'll just have to be patient and polish up our resumes.
First off never EVER accept reduced pay, there are lots of other jobs available, if you accept reduced pay then the company assumes you are desperate. Never be at the mercy of a company. second, millions are out of work in retail now, thing will not be getting back to normal until late may or early June, and that will be a very limited “new normal” some stores will have a skeleton staff, and others will bring in the salaries managers to do the work of the hourly employees. Retail was struggling before this, so without a doubt this could be the nail in the coffin for many stores, you just have to create a resume and start applying for jobs, who knows you may find a better job! But as an HR executive I can’t stress enough NEVER accept a pay decrease, it will hurt you in the long run.
