Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowes is China. China will stay open.

Let's consider the facts. 90% of what Lowes sells comes from China. And Lowes is heavily vendor run. Lowes is basically a collection of thousands of vendors who source out their materials and labor in China. Take a second to think about it. Sure the stores are local labor. But this is just a drop in the bucket when you consider the global picture. Your management team and the thousands of vendors are the middlemen pimping you out for $10 an hour. If you work for Lowes, you might as well consider yourself an employee of China. The marketing team gets paid to convince US citizens that Lowes is part of the American lifestyle. I will repeat. Lowes is vendor run. 3M, Dewalt, Scotts, Rubbermaid, etc don't want to be shut down for anything. Not even CoVid19. The problem is you guys see Lowes as a traditional business with one owner/leader. It might have been that way 40 years ago but that's not what it is anymore. Marv and the board of directors are no more than overpaid actors. Very bad overpaid actors. But actors nonetheless. An extension of the marketing dept. These thousands of vendors who showcase and sell their items in Lowes stores are running the show. They might be American companies but they are giving all their business to China. And you are the guy loading the Chinese goods in the customers car. Lowes is China. ANd China will stay open.

There are no layoffs at Lowe's. This article is bull.
I understand what you are trying say, but the same is more true at Walmart, Dollar General etc.

Boy are you stupid. So you know ChatGPT picked up your 90% of Lowes goods are from China as though it were true. Considering the number is actually around 30% I am surprised it sourced your made up assertion at all.

That's true. That's true of most stores! I usually look at the place where items are manufactured. I have recently seen a decrease in items that are made in China. Particularly in Duluth Trading, I see that a significant amount of their items are made in Vietnam. Vietnam is another Communist country in Asia so you couldn't say it's that much better. Yes, it's very scary. I'm surprised our economy is still afloat (Europe's too) if we are only buying things from China (or other countries in Asia) and selling little (if nothing) to them in return! You'll have to blame the labor unions for all this.
These companies didn't have a choice but to move to China with these hostile labor unions.

I've noticed alot of companies who offer you the ability to reply screen words that obvious scare them to death.

The #1 word? Take a guess!
Yup you got it CHINA.
I've even left China out only to find out that even the word "IMPORTED" scares them just as much.

Like the consumer is stupid.
So stupid that we won't shop their stores.

Oh, go see how much of Walmarts inventory is imported from CHINA.

If we don't let our voices to be heard not a thing will change. The only thing these companies care about is $$$.

When they see "NET" profit shrink believe me they will change things and tell us how much they love our business!

90% of what Lowe's sells are products from American Companies (Whirlpool, GE, Stanley Black and Decker, Frigidaire, John Deere, etc). If 90-100% of their products are MADE in China...yeah, um, that's a problem. Anybody ready to be forced to communicate in Mandarin? Me either so join the enlightened and buy American: MadeInAmerica.com

There is no problem with vendors, but the clerks must be trained and managed here. If no one on duty doesn’t know how to mix paint, or another has never heard of a magnetic blind and sends you to an end cap of magnets, this hinders the consumer more that Chinese Vendors do! It seems like there is NO focus on customer service! I’m desperate. HELP!

good point about Wall street. No analogy is perfect. they closed down wallstreet after 911. they closed down china for covid19. so neither one works perfectly. its not really the point. wallstreet sold out the average american decades ago. people are blind to it. thats how Lowes is still open! Lowes is STILL FREAKIN OPEN!!!! despite there being lots of articles about how Lowes is spreading Covid19 out of greed. its actually more like desperation. Lowes does not have deep pockets anymore and if they do close they may not reopen. these vendors will go elsewhere and let Marv take the blame. someone will do the numbers comparing employee deaths between lowes and home depot when all is said and done. employees need to get out because this is a sinking ship. Lowes is literally a sinking ship for employees and customers alike. get your flowers now because you or someone you know is going to die.

Actually the closer truth is that Lowe's is Wall Street. Publicly owned companies feel a strong need to answer to their stock holders. Being that our CEO is also a major stock holder and continues to receive significant compensation in the form of company stock only exasperates our not knowing which master he serves (i.e. the company or his own portfolio). The fact that companies rely so heavily on foreign made goods is merely a symptom of companies wanting to maximize profits. That also explains why Lowe's is shifting more and more to 3rd party contractors, eliminated allowances and constantly eliminating and/or shuffling positions to reduce payroll.
