Engineering Team

Hi everyone -

I'm considering applying to Bed Bath and Beyond's tech team, to work on the main e commerce website as an engineer. I'm curious what people think of the teams and their skills - and is it changing with the new CEO? Are there significant investments in ML or other new best practices? How is the current tech stack?

Also, has there been any thought of getting an office in Silicon Valley like Target did? There is so much talent out there; wondering if Bed Bath and Beyond can leverage this to make the user experience as good as the leading e commerce sites.

If this was 1990 or so yeah, maybe the tech at BBB would be up to par.

Also the POS systems in the store crash at least 1 twice a day too. Throws some sort of software exception if you scan to many coupons to fast requiring a reboot. Some old POS system for 15 years ago. Kek

Bed , Bath & Beyond had a company present different IT options for their future expansion . The presentation outlined three different levels to choose from, a good, better, and best. At the end of the presentation BBB asked if they had anything lower than good.

When it comes to IT at BBB, the motto is “Don’t laugh, it’s paid for!”

You know if they hire interns ? I'm in school for comp engineering. As for tech improvements in the store the company is severely lacking any forward thinking or insight into investing into better infrastructure. When im working CS, we have an old 89 Rom DOS system running one of the stores systems for order lockups and customers personal info, Yikes. Also we barely got self scanners in our store this year. It seems like there very slow to the draw on adapting modern and secure tech.
