He only cares about associates, members And communities” .... but not Owners of Hometown???? Our top priority is the health and safety of our associates, members and the communities we serve," the company said. "We remain committed to helping slow the spread of the virus, while also meeting the needs of our members. However, COVID-19 is having a serious impact on the entire retail industry, including our company. Therefore, to ensure the future viability of the company, we have made the decision to temporarily close all Sears stores. We believe that taking these temporary steps now will position Sears to continue to serve our members and customers when the COVID-19 crisis passes. We continue to serve our members at Sears.com and through our mobile app and hope they and their loved ones remain safe and healthy."

Hopefully eddie is successful with the sears and kmart merger
this has been repeated over numerous times, but for those that don't understand why things are screwed up, here it is again
Eddie has told others over the years he did not believe in raises. He eliminated the 401 match as fast as he could have.
He bought store owned property and charged them rent and then closed them when they became unprofitable
He closed profitable stores because he could sell that property for more than it made.
He cut benefits and cut severance over the years numerous times
Cut vacation, bought poor health coverage that was more expensive than the other companies. Eliminated bonuses at the store level and district level
He hired id–ts to run this company that had zero retail experience or very little at best
He layed off thousands
He closed thousands of facilities.
He ridiculed others in front of others on conference calls
He destroyed a once great company by not investing in People and the stores.
He only focused on two stupid metrics, syw and credit Not sales.
Who runs a retail store and is not concerned about sales or people?
What a low life, self centered jerk
Eddie wants a bailout. He doesn’t care about anyone, he wants to pad his pockets at the end of this pandemic.
Eddie and the so called Office of the CEO folks have never ever cared about the associates and there is a long history of this. You know it and I know it.
The stores would only be closed 1.) Temporarily stop hemorrhaging money which is a new concept for them and 2.) If you read the federal bailout provisions, it most likely says you have to have to be closed. Guarantee it is to get bailout money. Which will then go to bonuses of the Office of the Ceo.
These provisions probably do not apply to the franchises.
- I am calling it the Office of CEO because if I name names the thread will get deleted.
It costs him a bunch to keep FLS’s open. Not much expense to keep Dealers open
Dealer stores are really no more than glorified salespeople and he gets the commission and the Dealer gets all the expenses. If done right (but he can’t do that), it’s a windfall for him. But he’s not able to execute
I can tell by your grammar you’re educated. Contracts much?
Hmmm, then why not leave all FLS open!? It’s not endangering the associates.
How is keeping the store open endangering the owners? Put up a sign on the door stating only 1 customer allowed in the store at a time and that customers must wear a mask at all times in the store or they will be denied access. Limit your store hours.. you actually think TransformCon Is going to send out people to each location to ensure the owners are adhering to the “rules” ?
He has NEVER cared about Associates.
The Employees, District, regional managers and higher up the corporate ladder are to “work from home”. The Owners, many in their 60s are told to keep the stores open according to the contract. At the same time peer stores like Walmart, Home Depot, Ace etc are mitigating the associates risks by shortening the operating hours. Sadly this is a representation of the HT leadership role and owner moral is at an all time low. Along with their sales. By design.....
Nope, google Sears in your state. Only stores closed at the big ones, not Hometown, because Uncle Eddie doesn’t give a tinker about owners.
Let me guess either it was costing him more to have the store open or he figured he'd get better bail out tax
relief (from the stimulus) if he closed the stores.
Because let's face it if he really cared the stores would have been closed two and a half weeks ago.
They can claim they are an essential store but they have minimal product, as I said before the .99 store has more hardware than any Sears store.
And as far as appliances go, they sold all the floor models because 80% of appliances are not orderable.
So who are they trying to kid.
CLOSE THE STORES ALREADY!
Hometown is closed too. Except for service calls.
This is a huge lie by Eddie Himself He only closed Sears that are not liquidating the ones that are and Kmart Stores are still opened however the only difference is those stores is the Sears & Kmart stores that are currently liquidating are expected to close on Saturday, April 11th, 2020. According to a person I talked to at tools at the Smith Haven location is they told me that there building was sold and that they need to vacate the property by that date and Kmart at Penn Station was also closing as well.
Future viability of the company....LOL
