Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

What do you think Bed Bath & Beyond owes you?

As you look around the country, the world, and see what is happening with countless businesses - What does BB&B owe you at this time? And why do they owe you that?

As they have made abundantly clear in their communication so far, is we still have jobs at BB&B, for now.

I think they owe me on-time truthful communication before releasing it to the news media. Although that is tough because they want to control what is being said to the media, as most companies do.
Why do they owe me that- Because they say we still have jobs. I don't mean daily communication, I think we can all see what is happening around us and if your state has a stay at home order you know your not opening.

I am so glad to see some people understand that what is happening is out of BBB's control. I think it's fair that they furloughed (all most) everyone, gosh look around you most companies have done it.

This is for the person that said do the math, how about you read the news. The government is supplementing unemployment claims with 600 dollars a week. "Do the math" don't try to make people feel stupid by saying things like that, surely hope you are not a CST or Management.

I followed a lot of companies that did this process and although the technology failed everyone and they had to make the press release early, they still took the time to communicate it to us instead of none at all. There are so many retailers where the execs or many Corp were never under furlough. No execs in other companies took any pay cut or furlough because they can’t go under furlough do you their contracts- let’s just be clear on that. And for those who don’t understand this but all of those VP and pres positions were asked to volunteer to take that 30-% BECAUSE their contracts prevent that from happening by force. Yes this s—s but this is a world pandemic and it’s unlike anything we have ever seen. If bed bath continued to pay all staff we would not have a company to go back to, and with the economy being as bad as it is many would remain unemployed and eventually run out of benefits. So be grateful for the decisions that were made to keep 65,000 people employed long term. Did you know Macy’s did not continue to pay any health benefits? It can always be worse!!

And just think what would have happened if ST (the old CEO) were making the decisions) they would have Done ACTUAL layoffs of a lot more people.

It's nice that the fat cats only took a 30% pay cut. Poor babies, how are they going to handle living on 150000 ??? Lazy asses

I for one am glad it happened the way it did at least for my family it means being able to stay home and not become infected, I can apply for unemployment until I either find something else or we reopen, and I still have my health insurance. It could always be worse and I'm not saying BBB is perfect because they're not but yeah. Could be a lot worse. Some people's situation with BBB is worse some were let go completely.

I get it's easy to blame the company right now but please keep in mind they are trying to ensure we have jobs to come back too. No one asked for the world to get this way. Sure they aren't the best at communicating but I promise you other companies I've worked for aren't either. Our insurance, if you have it, is paid for and yes the government is giving us more than what I make in a week so down vote me if you want but I thank bed bath and beyond for keeping us safe and making us eligible for unemployment regardless of the backlash.

Not only did they keep is employed but unemployment eligible but they are paying our benefits. Could've left us with no insurance during a health crisis. Our corporate execs voluntarily took a pay cut for this while Congress took a pay raise. Seems fair to me.

I was a full time, was let go last week by phone. They owe me my job back. Not furloughed. One of four the last full timers in our store.

Right now you can get more in unemployment than you can make working full time at bed bath, so really they did everyone a favor. All these people begged to shut down for safety and you got what you wanted. Those left working are having to bust their butts fulfilling orders with cut back hours... making less money than everyone at home. Just be thankful they furloughed you instead of keeping you on with no hours and no options.
