Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Is this enough?

Now that it seems like Lowe's is finally making an effort towards its employees (more like, there was too much potential for bad press so let's do something about that,) do you think what is being done is enough?

Is an extra $2 an hour worth it? Are the safety measures they are implementing enough?

It's a no on the first and yes on the second for me.

So incredibly glad I’m with Home Depot now! Their response to and support of associates and customers has been nothing short of AMAZING! So sorry that Lowe’s associates are being put through this! Prayers to you all!

When the smoke settles, and it will , many employees and customers, not the clueless ones coming in and wasting time, but the real customers will remember this wonderful treatment that was fully on display through out this wanna be home depot , and will vote with their wallet. And to all the sears suits that flopped over her from you wrecking that company for your old buddy eli, feeling like dejavu?

@eyd+14iIt5aG, I stand corrected... HD providing additional bonuses to hourly associates in stores and distribution centers – $100 per week for full-time hourly associates and $50 per week for part-time hourly associates. Not $2 per hr. :(

Too little, too late. Like much of what Lowe’s does they are a dollar short and a day late on their response to covid 19. I don’t how Marvin can continue his podcast with any credibility. No one watches it anymore at my store; it’s full of lies and partial truths.

They make a big deal out of providing N95 masks for health care workers, but Lowe’s sends none to the store for employees. Home Depot closes at 6, Lowe’s closes at 830, now 7pm. My store manager talks about how we are “capturing” Home Depot customers during the time we are open later.

I’ve long thought that Home Depot is the better run company.

The company has already had one death and I have at least two people out at my store that have tested positive. Time will tell if their revised "advertised" efforts actually come to fruition. Kind of like the "cleaning" that is supposed to be happening throughout the day but never does because we are too damn busy with the swarms of customer's packing the stores. They NEED to be severely limiting the number of customers within the stores and should also be limiting all the promotions that are driving customer's to the stores in mass. PERIOD. HD is doing that but still NOT Lowe's. And we will see how many days/weeks pass before the company actually starts providing personal protection equipment for the employees.

In my opinion, Lowe's should be offering their employees with an option to be furloughed for anyone that does not want to risk getting infected with this potentially deadly disease but doesn't want to have to be forced to quit and loose their medical benefits. Anyone willing to continue to work during this pandemic should be paid accordingly. HD is currently paying the extra $2 per hour plus 2x for overtime and 80 hr (full-time) / 40 hr (part-time) bonus vacation time. So my answer to the original posters questions would be No and No.
