Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

🤨🤨🤨

Not to be that guy..... but not for nothing..... 95% of the people on here were bashing BBB for not closing stores etc etc etc.... what did u think was going to happen. That they were going to just pay you the entire time they were closed?? I’ve posted a lot of things here, and once again..... Hate BBB but they are bleeding money and have been losing profits year after year after year. This is the only thing that might save your jobs in the long run. As terrible as this sounds, you should be happy that they’re trying to have something for you to go back to... downvote my post If you must.. 🤷‍♂️. I’m right though

I don’t disagree w the decision to furlough, I disagree with how the communication went out. Very unorganized

You are right any company can only do so much. Macy's furloughed their people. Even Boeing is asking for voluntary layoffs.

What is the $600/week you’re referring to? I didn’t hear anything about getting $600?!?

I don't think anyone expected to be paid by the company beyond the two weeks whether we pushed for it or not. The original direction was 15 days to slow the spread so god forbid we wanted to be home safe also. I appreciate that they did at least provide that. I don't fault them for furloughing us, it is what it is from here on out.

  1. .. you are right...
  2. .. it’s BBB, sooooo most employees are lower wage employees. They pay nothing and expect everything..

Lower wage employees should actually prefer being laid off if you consider the additional $600 a week they will collect on top of their states' regular unemployment benefit. Most will end up making more being laid off than when they were working 40 hours a week.
