I'm guessing furloughs at the best for most store + some corporate positions starting next week. They were only prepared for stuff to be closed thru the 7th. After that "difficult decisions would need to be made"
They already cut almost all corporate salaries as well by 25% (if not more the higher up the ladder you go) when this started so they are running low on options.
Worked as a marketing manager and honestly I dont think DMs had the option to pick who stays and who goes I know at least two DMs on a personal level who wish they had that option because now they are left with alot of people who they dont want and would trade for in a heart beat its all about the money, the only way they make money now is to run the company with worker bees with low pay noone knows if B&M sales will ever bounce back
Appears as though creative and marketing teams were hit hardest with reductions in staff, possibly as high as 80%. Merchandising and Product Development (private label brands) were hit hard, too. eCommerce teams seem mostly intact, which makes sense, but some of us would have moved over to that team in a heartbeat if it was offered (as some of us have experience there!). I hope they can get some stores opened in a month or so, but no one can predict day to day what is going on. Time to update the resume, I guess
Some are getting a Paid Leave Package (reduced salary/ no unemployment option) while others got the Furlough package (no salary/able to collect unemployment).
This hit all levels so not just at store level. It s—s, but hopefully the good ones will be able to come back.
One of two things happening with these furloughs - either decision on whom to furlough was directly related to money made vs peers in similar positions (i.e. this Ops Manager is making x vs company norm of y) or the D.M.s were given a head count number and they decided who and from where to get rid of - I have also heard that the term lay off versus furlough has been used which is a big difference.
There is no cash flow so thats a ridiculous statement. The fact that health benefits was kept is great, many companies aren't keeping that. As for how long this goes on, blame many customers who are buying c-ap just to get out of the house
some folks that didn’t get furloughed do absolutely nothing on my team so criteria was a popularity contest it seems

I'm really surprised by the lack of cash flow the company has to support their workers.
What I dont understand is how they go about choosing people. They keep worthless directors and Sr. Directors but get rid of the good people. What a shame. Typical d—s
