Thread regarding Dean Foods Co. layoffs

DFA

I work at one of the plants. Not saying which one to protect myself. But, wages are bare bones here. Those of you used to making big money will be in for a rude awakening.

Heath in’s and dental is sky high as well. Upper management who will be going plant to plant to negotiate. Are tough bulls. They will not get bullied whatsoever.

What will happen to the Dean HQ now that DFA has bought 44 plants? I heard they're moving to a smaller office in downtown Dallas.

From the looks of this it’s easy to see why we went broke. Losers for sure

We will be lucky if they hire any of us.

Any teamster would not vote to give up his or her pension or health care plan. Some of you Dip sh–s must not be union.

The way it works from DFA’s side of a contract “negotiation” will most likely be that there is a certain amount of money the company is willing to give... Divide it between wage increases / pension / benefits / PTO increases however you want but that is all there is to give. Take it or the plant will have to charge customers more for the product coming out of the plant to cover the cost, giving sales less leverage to increase or maintain sales volume/margin, resulting in less sales and therefore layoffs and potential plant closure.

I'm calling BS on that. I just went to DFA's website and they have numerous jobs posted starting at 24 bucks an hour and full scale at 18 months is almost 27 bucks an hour.

Only reason I’m with DFA is because there is no where else hiring in my area that pays past $15.00 an hour full time. That’s why.

There are several ex-Deans upper management currently at DFA who have witnessed what Deans leadership did wrong contributing to failure. As the previous post states, they will not be “bullied” because they know what they need to do to sustain the business and make the company profitable. They are not afraid to close facilities when needed for the betterment of the business, I wouldn’t go into this with a chip on your shoulder expecting DFA to owe you anything.
