Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Lay off ???

Just got a message from store manager “ I will be calling you shortly to provide you with some important information. But 1st I need to verify everyone's email address please text to me asap. “

What does this mean? Since they can’t open are they electing to just let staff go?

IF you have the ability to work at home and were recently given a VPN access to do it this week that is a good thing. You're likely safer
If your store is filling online orders that is good and some staff may be saved because of that. If your store is closed and there is not fulfillment going on that will likely lead to a furlough or layoff of everyone in that store. I expect them to also look at the corp office, buying office and everyone who is not vital to run the company on this limited path.
if you happen to make it through this RUN do not walk to your next job. This virus will likely be the straw that breaks BBBY back. Good Luck everyone

It not just BBBY associates. Its an all concepts call.

I just thought of something, I wonder if different people will be on different calls. Like different degrees of what will happen to us all. Probably be best to record it.

I was definitely laid off by phone in February. I was off that day and that was the day they laid people off .

Has anyone gotten confirmation of an actual conference call? Or is this just speculation

Tired of not knowing if these claims of some people being let go, no way for us to know if this is indeed true – I doubt it – so it would be better to wait until tomorow. I expect furloughs for many, but if this is what's needed for the company to at least have a chance at a recovery and our jobs in the months ahead, Mark, you have my support.

Keeping your employees safe come on Mark don’t kid yourself. C-appy rubber gloves that rip no facemasks or protective equipment.
Employees wiping down counters with your bare hands against covid19
Your most dedicated staff in stores processing orders making less than employees staying home doing nothing.
Tack on an extra buck or two thanks Mark , the poor and the most dedicated will always show up for an xtra buck.
It’s not because of the extra buck it’s because we care about our company who doesn’t seem to care much about us!!!
You say you Take care of your employees. If you really cared you’d be paying everybody the emergency pay and letting the employees who are dedicated and desperately needing the money Make a little extra.
Instead if you worked at a store shipping out packages this week risking your life you got a two dollar an hour bonus. At the end of the week if you worked more than your emergency hours that you qualify for you don’t get any emergency hours.

Wow!! Only in America Can we continue to screw over the working class.

Here’s some basic math.
9 hours at home at $20 is $180. 8 hours at the store at $20 is $160 plus ur $5 bonus is $200.
I can stay home and make 180 bucks or I can come to work and make 200 bucks.great I made $20. now remember I also lost five hours pay before the week started.
I can have stress and risk my life with coronavirus to ship a few boxes
All the while you tell us we’re keeping the company afloat we’re doing a great job.
You corporate guys really got to think about the small guys does that seem right to you??
After all that we come home only to find out there’s a conference call Thursday.
That’s great a Thursday isn’t that when you fire everyone usually??

Does this apply to the corp folks as well ? Wouldn't be fair if they didn't. Lots of wasted salaries over in corp.

"Fulltime, just let go over the phone. 1 of 4 in my store"

This has to be a lie, pure and simple, another example of the many fraudulent comments on this board intended to cause pure angst.

You aren't let go over the phone!!! My gawd!!!

My assumption is furloughs for now. Once we open back up, mass layoffs and store closures.

It's for a company wide conference call on Thursday. It's either going to be furlough or lay-offs.
