Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

LOWES AND HOME DEPOT WILL LIKELY BE SHUT DOWN

Unless these stores take drastic action like not allowing customers in store, curbside pick up only. These stores are filled with people browsing and buying non-essential items. Neither business has any essential items left such as masks, lysol, toilet paper, and paper towels. These stores and walmart also should be shut to the public and have curbside pick-up only. The cases keep going up and the reason is everyone is going out to these stores because they are bored.

Anyone that is not practicing emergency measures, need to start and take a Dave Ramsey course.

1st step, one month of emergency money. 2nd, 3 months, 3rd step, 6 months. Then one year.
We have funds to survive, not working for 1 year or more. Not bragging, but we are prepared.
My life, and my wife's is worth more than helping a ludite buying mulch with a stay home order in place.

For the life of me I simply do not understand all the cheerleading here to shut down all store operations. How do you id–ts think you’re going to get by financially if that happens? The laws of math and economics do not change just because of a pandemic. Yes, extreme caution is needed and I’m sure that Lowe’s and other big boxes will eventually be made to do more than they are doing currently to prevent the spread of the disease, but to wish a complete shutdown on the facility where you and workmates earn money to put food on your table and take care of your loved ones is just way over the top. Any of you that disagree and thus feel the reward/risk ratio is no longer on the side of continuing to work just need to quit. In other words, stop complaining and just quit. Period.

Like most stores, ours has been PACKED! Mainly with people that are off of work and loading up on supplies to make the most of their forced time off. We have close to 40 people out on leave, including our store manager (who was the one of the first to leave). The rest of us are working overtime to keep the place running thus increasing our exposure risk. We are also next to a county that is already under a two week stay at home order. Word is both the state and county governments are getting tired of the abuses and will be stepping in and limiting the number of people that can be in the store at any given time. We are also hearing they may force the garden center to shut down as well as other non-essential parts of the store.

Bottom line, Lowe's will keep putting both their employees and their customers to the hazard as long as there is money to be made. Lowe's is even relentlessly running their Spring gardening project ads on both TV and radio with absolutely NO mention of the stay at home orders or pandemic risks. Talk about a total lack of social responsibility. If the covid-19 cases keep escalating in our state I fully expect the state and local governments will step in and take control of the situation. NOT the correct message Lowe's should be sending. Also wondering when the wrongful death law suits will start.

OP....likely lives in their parents basement. any actual homeowner that doesnt live in a brand new mansion knows lowes and HS sell more essentials than what was listed. talk about ignorance! most likely a cashier wrote that...you ever browse the aisles and contemplate what the item is used for and what would happen if you couldnt buy that item when needed.

the totalitarians are really showing themselves right now. bunch of little stalins that want everything shut down so we can all starve to death.

Can't support your family if you're dead. It's not that complicated.

Wasn’t this site so we could see if we were getting laid off? Now y’all are asking for it!? Makes no sense, some people need to stay open so we can pay for our families because the virus has put our spouses out of work and now you depend on that Lowe’s check.
