Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Send a message to your local health department about Lowes stores and CoVid19

From what has been said here and what friends at stores are telling me - Lowes is not following any guidelines to prevent the spread of CoVid19. There is little or no social distancing in stores. There is no soap or paper towels in the bathrooms. The bathrooms and work areas are not being cleaned at several locations. Lowes is experiencing record sales because customers are coming in to buy non-essentials. Most essential items are sold out at Lowes stores. Lowes has become a gathering place for people who are bored and refuse to accept the reality of the coVid19 situation. There are large numbers of people coming into Lowes with families and dogs simply because they have nothing better to do. Lowes has purposely NOT limited the number of customers in the stores as a sales strategy to outdo Home Depot who is acting responsibly by limiting the number of customers in their stores as well as limiting operating hours. It is quite obvious Lowes does not care about the health and safety of their employees nor do they care about the safety of the general public. It is business as usual at Lowes right now and they are acting as if nothing is going on in the world. Please spread the word to your local health department if this is the case in your area. I have forwarded a similar message to my local health department after verifying with associates at local stores. We are not trying to shut down jobs here. But Lowes needs to be held accountable and engage in safer business practices like Home Depot instead of profiting at the expense of us all.

Always a ton of cars in parking lot! Families walking around for something to do!

After a week or so of observation in my community I’m convinced that some people, barring an outright military ground invasion, will simply not be swayed to change their normal behavior and thus still like to mill around in stores and shop, with no masks or gloves, just seemingly oblivious to what’s going on in the world right now. And ironically, most of the ones I’ve observed doing this area older, white folks(I’m middle-age white). I do not think an outright home confinement for everyone here in our state is necessary, but this behavior of folks just casually walking into stores to browse and window shop in a time where there is real risk of virus transmission is troubling. Frankly, I don’t get it.

It is a shame that Lowe's will jeopardize the health of their employees for money. Something needs to be done and soon. Only one door should be open, only a few people in at a time and 6 foot distance should be enforced. It is not the time to meet up with your friends and shop for patio furniture.
But as you may think you are making up some extra money right now but in the long run you are losing trust me!!!

6 ft buttons are coming not that that will help. Were doing great at cleaning desks ,registers, keyboards ,door knobs. What about returns ? Merchandise that infected people are touching and then we touch. Just general merchandise that someone may have touched yesterday?

Seriously? Lowe’s is essential? Marv’s cash grab. Screw the employee. Share Price! It is that simple.

Our store was so packed all weekend, we didn’t have enough space to do the 6ft rule. Most the people didn’t even buy anything. They just want to be out in public. Why are they risking us all for this ?

The Home Depots is my area are not following the Limit on customers. Parking lots are jammed up, had to be at least 70+ people shopping for plants.

The customers are out of control!! The do not respect the 6' rule, and complain if you remind them to keep their distance. Not an empty parking space......... They are coming in like its a field trip, kids everywhere, people coughing all over the product but I am required to be there as a vendor. We only stop when the store shuts down and were told if we took time off because of the virus they could not guarantee our job when the pandemic has passed.

Carry a measuring tape and extend it out six feet right toward incoming mo–nic customers. Make sure it’s one of the big stiff tapes and push it right toward their face. We need “Back 6’ “ buttons for our vests. . This is a war against virus carrying non-essential buying zombies marching into our stores. Keep your hands clean and away from your face. Stay back fools!

It’s not just that customers are bored. They are ignorant. Depending on the market area. Our city in Alabama is under “shelter in place”. With fines for hanging out or nonessential gatherings, etc. but there is NO ENFORCEMENT. And our store is in one of the poorest communities in the state. They have no clue what 6 feet looks like.

I can state that most of my management team is taking this very seriously. We have sneeze guards at all of the registers and are cleaning constantly.

I do agree that limiting the # of customers in line or in store should happen. And has not yet.

And we are losing good employees every day. Just not willing to risk families at home. Because Lowes is essential, I am the only one in my family with income right now. So I am grateful and show up for my family.

Every employee in every store with quarantined and infected co-workers need to contact their county health department, state department of Health, and the CDC. Infected quarantined employees are being told not to talk about it outside of their "people leaders" within Lowe's. Lowe's don't want the extent of the infection within Lowe's to be publicly known.

Our GOVERNORS and LOCAL LEADERS need to be doing more for us!
State and Local Government Responsibility and Accountability for Health Crisis Preparedness
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK201073/
"The GOVERNOR, in particular, is ultimately responsible for his or her state’s emergency planning and response actions and for ensuring that effective CSC planning occurs."
And "… the state department of health often is in the best position to ensure that state, regional, and local CSC planning and implementation efforts are occurring and that they are being conducted systematically—that is, consistently, in a coordinated manner (i.e., within and across state boundaries), and in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations."
Where is the accountability for our state and local governments NOT being prepared for the pandemic? Do Americans believe the best answer was to have our local health care system and disaster preparedness federalized vs locally and privately run?

Sounds like some serious issues going on in your store. As far as the cleaning, I have to say that the management team in my CT store have been amazing with associates scheduled around the clock for cleaning and disinfecting our store.

I couldn’t agree more though about the customers. We’re happy to be here for your NEEDS, but stop putting us and other customers at risk because you’re bored and want to browse the lawn furniture.
