Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Pay cut

One of my friend told that he did not get the 15 percent payout in the current check. I can see that pay cut in my check though. What does it mean? Will these people are safer if Sabre will do lay-off in future.

Many on H1B did not receive any pay cut at all. It's determined by the wage level specified in your filing with USCIS. They cannot cut below that salary without filing an amendment. So some had small cuts and some none at all, just depends how close your current salary was to the one filed with your H1B

Yes it is confirmed news. H1B salaries have been cut too.

They can't do paycuts to H1B without filing amendments. Best option is to lay them off.

Heard that pay was cut for H1B employees too after all. HR just needed more time to review if they can legally do that.

Not true about the pay raises, H1B employees get them just like everybody else. It's salary cuts especially those over 10% which cause the headaches with filing amendments.

yes theres a ton of legal as it relates to cutting title or comp for a h1b. H1b's have min $ amounts they need to have to have a h1b approved and yes the legal to change title etc (esp downwards).
is at least around 8k just in legal costs. Then remember you have to push it back up again after the summer. This could incur more costs. I'm ok with it though. It's not their fault.

H1Bs don't get pay raises either. It works both ways.

Citizens get pay cut and layoff, h1bs stay at full salary and run the company. Yeah, that'll work. Not! They're gonna get so busted if they do that. The world economy is going to shrink. With 1 in 5 citizens out of work, there is no place for h1b. Sorry, but they gotta go.

Pay cut has already gone through.

I had team members on H1B and they noted no pay cut whereas all the rest of us did. followed up and Was confirmed that H1B salaries cannot be changed without filing an amendment for each H1B employee and the cost and trouble of that outweighs the benefit of the 15%.

All h1b employees didn’t get a pay cut, by law you can not do it. Sabre got screwed with h1b, they may can lay-off them but then can not hire back according to law.

Pay attention. Communication was that this will change starting this pay period.

Maybe they will lose 30% from their next pay check.
