Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Contractors to go first, blue badges to follow

Layoffs to happen in mid-April. The management is talking about a 4 month lul now, they are getting ready to shift into a 'survival mode' - layoffs & furloughs to be rolled out. As I said before, I heard mid-April from different sources. Take all of this with a grain of salt, as things are changing a daily basis - it can be bad but it does not have to be.

We'll get through this.

Sadly, the current layoffs are being driven by the horrific revenue collapse caused by the pandemic. Some sources, if they are to be believed, say that Disney is losing a whopping $30 million a day. This means that the company is going to cut to the bone to survive, as there is absolutely no way of knowing how long until the parks, cruise lines, movies, etc, become profitable again.

I’m glad these top VPs who’s been laying off hard working employees so they can purchase Fox and 21st Century are getting a taste of their own medicine.

Just started working at Disney 6 weeks ago, thought I was joining a company that respected their employees a bit more.

They need to permanently shed the hundreds of useless managers whose main skill is delegation.

How about getting rid of half the useless management while they're at it?

You are wrong. I am a blue badge and got laid off. Entire departments all of which are blue badges got laid off. as a matter of fact, my position was taken over by a contractor.

They're doing what thousands of other companies are doing. Be glad we work for Disney. They have the ability to pay us a little longer.
