Thread regarding Weight Watchers International Inc. layoffs

I was laid off by WW today (May 15 2020)

I was on the layoff conference call today as well…

It was a very short (few min) audio-only Zoom video conference – all participants except the organizers were muted, so we were not allowed to speak up…

The TM read a written statement – it was done in a minute or two…

I’ve spent over 20 years with the company and this was insulting at best… All of us are angry – we deserved better, this I shumilating…

We were asked to STFU (well, it was polite) – not to talk to anyone or we’d jeopardize the payout.

They are paying us for the meetings, will get a free membership (you know this has very little to no value for most of us)… Then an email from a company that’s not even WW that tells me they will handle the separation, and what steps to follow: Mail the keys… OMG…

Good luck going virtual and let’s hope that Artificial Intelligence website and app platform takes care of the members – this will end in shareholder tears. The executives will laugh all the way to the bank…

So CEO Mindy is now saying to CNBC that we had an option to do one on one and she feels bad. Not true, I was not given option. Was emailed to be on the call and my TM had everyone announce their name that they were on.

I am sure this will get out in the main News Media and I am sure a class action lawsuit is not far away

Same. Have been with the company for 9 years. I did this part time. My heart really goes out to all of the full time employees who needed the benefits. They just take and take. Wanting more from us at every turn while taking all the perks away that at least used to make it fun. They should be ashamed of themselves for treating employees so poorly and unprofessionally.

And the stuff they've sent as part of the separation package doesn't all work. I tried adding the ADP app but got an email back that I needed to provide a WW email address which has since been shut down. Thanks a lot WW. So we are told we will get paid for the last 2 weeks of May based on what we were paid last May and can check it all on the ADP app. Maybe if it worked, I could. But instead I get to just trust them to do the right thing - right!

Worked for the company over 13 years; a great employee who was likes by members and knew all policies and a problem solver. They humiliated me with a 4 min phone call to say it was my last day. No explanation on why I was chosen to leave. Put up with a lot over the years and don’t be fooled that WW cares about members or staff. It’s a company that only is looking for sales people. Should have known once they started hiring non members to work there

I was fired as well by phone on Thursday. I was so hurt, and angry. Still am. I’ve only worked for WW for a year but felt I was a model employee I love the members and they love me. Two girls hired after me was able to stay. I’m sick to my stomach did a search to see if I could reach out to anyone hurting like me and found this post. The way it was handled was disgusting. My leader said I’m sorry you maybe it was because you are not close to your goal weight. You have such a pretty face. WTH 😡.

I am also in the same position I have worked for WW for 16 yrs as a guide and now get this kind of information that we have been let go because of our age and how many yrs. we have worked. This is a bunch of you know what, but this is not the first time I have been stabbed in the back but I kept working I wish I would have quit then. They need not think I will be going to the meetings any more who would want to go after being treated like this. I have mad ever since I was on the phone call with no kind of explanation of why we were being terminated. We have been treated very shabby.

I am one who survived the cut, but I am not sure I want to work for a company that treats employees this way.

So unprofessional and hurtful. Give your all and then some to a company & this is how we are treated.

I was also laid off today by email. I couldn’t get into the meeting yesterday because they didn’t set it up right, and many were locked out. I reached out to my manager with basically no response. Nice!
Good luck WW. You’ve really upset many employees for the shabby way we were let go.

Same for me. I joined WW in the 1980s, lost the weight, gained it back slowly, lost it permanently in 1999 and started working for WW in 2000. This was a shabby way to do it. I felt sorry for my TM who is also being let go. I feel very abandoned and adrift after 20 years of adjusting to all the changes and staying the course with WW because I believe in the program. I understand the WW has been severely impacted by this pandemic and its economic fall out, but, again, I feel we were all treated shabbily.
