Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

Cashless?

Rumors are that when the parks open they may have only cashless transactions. If this is true, it would mean a big hit for a lot of positions.

I didn’t say anything disrespectful or negative, but the obvious social queue was missed so I explained it in an inoffensive manner. You made it offensive by giving autism a negative association. I didn’t say it was a bad thing, I simply explained myself.

But to digress, I’m not missing the point. The garbage that is discovery dollars (cashless wristband) has been around for years. We also accept credit nearly everywhere. That’s a given.

You keep missing the point and now you are showing that you are rude and disrespectful. I apologize to all special needs parents that had to read such an offensive comment.

Look I’m not sure if you’re autistic, but I’m responding to the person who said “ To whoever said parks were cashless anyways... no they weren't. Not sure which parks you thought of but it wasn't seaworld.”

The first reply to the original post was clearly tongue in cheek.

You completely missed the point. The cashless was not a joke. It have been a long time talk about having self checkout kiosks at stores, restaurants and paid attractions. And if implemented more positions will be cut.

Wooosh

That person clearly didn’t get the cashless joke.

Since you need it spelled out for you, he was joking that the parks are broke and don’t have any money, which isn’t a lie.

I can tell you for sure going cashless is something that the park has wanted to do and i suppose this would be a good time to implement it. Vault would def be hit as far as needing bodies for it, as far as the rest.. you can just tell people to bring debit/credit cards. Transitioning to that type of system would be difficult pre-shutdown but right now is a prime opportunity for it.

I don’t think it’s going to be as much a hit than it was already going to be. You’re already not going to have any apron sales, it won’t be busy enough for kiosk/cart sales, and most low volume retail is likely going to remain clothes.

We’re looking are a barebones operation, core shows, rides, stores on limited hours, core restaurants.

Nobody’s going to do theme parks for awhile. I can see a huge 4th because there’s going to be those people that HAVE to go to SeaWorld, but realistically this whole year is shot.

Biggest hit would be the vault I think. Maybe ticket windows if they can push enough folks to the kiosks.
Unless they invest in kiosk machines for other departments cashiers will still need to ring in items. Culinary would likely have some labor reductions from transactional efficiency, but merch already gets very little cash at register.

Mephis zoo reopened cashless. I could see it at least at opening, maybe forever for inside the gate. You'll have to have a few tills out front at some point I would think.
