Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

The threat based company.

Every single day there's always someone threatening your job. All the mega millions we've made, all the hard work employees have done, all the stress endured, working with skeleton crews, customer bombardment during a pandemic, piss poor leadership, long shifts...scattered days off. But still the threats from management roll in daily about store standards, this is empty fix this, fix that, we're going to write you up if you don't do this or that. I sent out an email, if this is not done your going to be held accountable. I'm going to walk your area and if it don't loo good I'm writing you up. And so on and on......well duck you. You mediocre dm and SM and asm you can s— a big crank.

Well, I've been on both sides of the fence here. As an associate, customers with attitudes always want something for nothing. They approach you with stupid questions and ask for your advice and then not take it. You help out with Code 3s at your neighboring departments, and help customer's load stuff throughout the day. And when you encounter a rude, disrespectful customer, you page for a manager.

As a supervisor, it's my job to train, provide guidance and help out the entire store when needed. The amount of angry phone calls never stop, usually with issues that the associate could have fixed had they sold the product correctly, or communicated with the customer as part of their order management. In addition to phone calls, you have customer's in the store that are angry for some reason or another - typically wanting a discount on a damaged box where the product is untouched. I review my departments schedules and make sure there's overlapping coverage daily and give my PT associates max hours to take the stress off of other associates. I'm on my departments lines, MOD line and the Curbside Pickup line when I'm overseeing that area. I help out on Code 3s to the front end, service desk and OSLG when needed, and Code 50s when I'm free. At the end of the night, I page for carts and no one shows up...page again and no one shows up...page a final time with a sync up/write up and everyone shows up (I always help with carts every night).

Some managers like to delegate and micromanage their associates...Not I. I will help you as best I can and support you with anything you ask...if you ask. I go above and beyond not because I want the recognition, I do it because I don't want to see my store fail. In the five years I've worked at Lowe's I've been through 4 Store Managers. I say all that to say, until you've walked in someone else's shoes, don't assume you know what they go through daily.

PS: The pay increase wasn't that great either going from Specialist to Supervisor. No one wants to baby sit someone and beg them over and over to do the job they're getting paid to do. We are a team and should help each other; but this is also a company, and if you don't want to do the task list given to you by your manager, they will find someone who will. FYI.

What exactly are they alleging that they'd do, fire me for not getting credit apps? If so I'd qualify for unemployment. Don't threaten me with a good time.

I've been working in retail for almost 40 years and have always been great with customers. I've been with Lowe's for three years and I'm on a final because they say people have complained that I was rude. The GM says it's just customers perception. Then why the write ups? Because they want to slap you down and let you know that you are their puppet and they have power over you. Never was i treated like this by any other company. I already have another job lined up when all this craziness ends. Lowe's loves to enforce pressure and threats to your position no matter what it is. Working everyday knowing "AM I NEXT" is a hazardous work environment.

That’s all anybody talks about in the break room anymore. Employees are starting to become more interested in tearing this company down out of spite than they are in keeping their jobs. For good reason. The way we’ve been treated for a long time and especially in the past few months has left a very bad taste in everybody’s mouth and now no one gives a sh– anymore. They can go ahead and continue to hire people, but existing employees are influencing the way they think when they come in. So this anger and resentment by employees is not going to go away until leader ship actually acts like leaders. And not slaveowners.

This is the exact reason I am on leave and never going back. No support, no leadership, and for damn sure no respect.

Lowe's management has always used bully tactics. Now is no different. I thought management was supposed to head towards a code 3 not run away from it which is what they do at my store. Stupid store manager wants to know "are they angry?" when a customer wants to talk to him. I've watched as the front end supervisor and OPS ASM head for the back when there is a code 3 paged. Shouldn't managers all head up front to help out? When out regional VP and District Manager come to visit all they do is walk around with resting b–ch faces on and make lists of what they don't like, but they sure do like the numbers we're making everyday. They and the rest of management all walk around with bonus boners.

This was an honest, and brilliant post. Very accurate and Ive seen the same over 10 years, from 4 different stores. This poster is 100% accurate.

"That’s because they are NOT leaders! They don’t lead, they bully. Lowe’s is plagued with this type of management.

Additionally, since unemployment went through the roof overnight. They feel they can treat people like cattle and get away with it. Not only is it wrong to threaten employees all the time. But we are in a pandemic, people are on the edge with anxiety, fear, and anger. Management needs to be reassuring and supportive. NOT fanning the flames of rebellion."

This virus is going to hold the store management accountable. They should worry about more important things. People’s lives are at stake here!
