Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy's has no future ...

  • because the top executive slate has naive milk, honey and cheese like attitude towards ever changing retail landscape.

They engage in cozy fireside chat with friendly media.

Macy's should be acquired by the tractor company.

When the COVID-19 crisis is over, Capitalism will have moved to a new stage. Consumers will be more thoughtful about what they consume and how much they need to consume. Here are possible developments:

  • Some weaker companies and brands will vanish. Consumers will have to find reliable and satisfying replacement brands.
  • The Coronavirus makes us aware of how fragile our health is. We can catch colds easily in crowds.
  • We must stop shaking hands when we meet and greet. We need to eat more healthy foods to have a greater resistance to germs and flus.
  • We are shocked by the inadequacy of our health system and its great cost. We need to stay out of the hospital and play safe.
  • The sudden loss of jobs will remain a trauma even after workers get jobs back. They will spend and save their money more carefully.
  • Staying home led many consumers to become producers of their own food needs. More home cooking, more gardening to grow vegetables and herbs. Less eating out.
  • We place more value on the needs of our family, friends and community. We will use social media to urge our families and friends to choose good and healthy foods and buy more sensible clothing and other goods.
  • We will want brands will spell out their greater purpose and how each is serving the common good.
  • People will become more conscious of the fragility of the planet, of air and water pollution, of water shortages, and other problems.

Macy's Delays First-Quarter Release to July 1...

Just say it now JG. You'll be closing 250 stores instead of your original 125. Yeah blame it on Corona. Great timing. Now you have something to blame on other than your lack of planning.

What kind of dystopian future is this??

The company said it will take precautions like enforcing social distancing in order to make its workers and customers feel safe. Employees will also be required to take their temperatures before coming in for a shift, and will have to wear masks.

Few fitting rooms will be open, and any product tried on by a customer will be held for 24 hours before being put back on the racks.

They also got rid of a HUGE section of their digital revenue team (closing SF) right before the virus hit when people turned to online shopping

Macy's Delays First-Quarter Release to July 1.

Yeah that can’t be good. What this means is that the COVID 19 issue has sunk its teeth into the profits and rather than release bad info now, wait until there is som positives to sprinkle in. Are you able to say Kick the can down the road?

I agree. It’s a dinosaur. And when it shrinks to nothing. It’s Very vulnerable for something like this to happen again to wipe it out completely
