Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Good News and Bad News

First the bad news. Deeper cuts are on the way. The good news is they’re getting to the sweet spots on the rosters where the employees are the least productive, have most claimed injuries and need the most management. Those of us left will enjoy the peace and quiet, do our jobs and finish out our career.

Some contractors make about what you do, are in RRB, don’t pay anything for insurance, get bonuses, clothing allowance and sick days. Those are the facts.

Wake up fool...In case you don't know the end goal is to get rid of all union positions and replace them with contractors making a little bit over minimum wage.

Mechanical isn’t as important as you think at this point run it till it breaks and put it in storage for someone else to deal with later on. Look at NLR guys who’ve been sitting on easy jobs showing up to work jobs they’ve not seen in at minimum 18 years (guessing) and the first thing is they say I don’t know how to do that. The old heads are starting to get the wake up call this ain’t the same game you started 18-20+ years ago welcome to the new railroad, the guys that just got marched out set expectations that y’all can’t keep up with anymore. Buckle up the ride is beginning. You have been weighed, you have been measured and you have been found wanting.

So why were you behind on bills before you got laid off? Had to get tattoos? New Harley? Raptor? Boat? Sounds like a personal problem.

Undertime will not help you. They'll close your shop when they see fit. If I made 1million in salary 10 million in stock options or whatever, how would my pockets be affected by a 25% salary cut? Just for simplicity 1mil - 25% =750k over a year not counting taxes. So what about that other 10mil? So what did I lose, not that much. How much undertime are you willing to take, 2 per half? Then they close your shop, what then? Going into unemployment already behind on bills that's what. Only name they mention is share holders so thank you oh gracious employee who'd sacrifice yourself for this company who don't know your name just roster #. Many who thought they were untouchable got touched this week with over 18 years of service. Believe them if you want.

There's nothing good about someone losing their livelihood, regardless of what you think of them personally.

Oh wow... that seemed to really hit a nerve. Did someone not get to play with the toy in daycare today? Or did you simply not get your daily nap in yet? At least those "experienced" guys you seem to be jealous of can stay awake for 8 hours while they are at work.

Really because those of us at the bottom of the rosters are working the sh– jobs while you old f—s sit on your nuts and b–ch about doing 10 minutes of work in your shift. Just wait till we are gone and your weekend jobs get abolished you can finish out your career on midnights with Tuesday Wednesday off a–hole.
