Collins Aerospace Announces 55-Over Voluntary Separation Program

Just got the letter from Steve Timm announcing the VSP program. Additionally states that there "might" be additional action taken. I think we all know what that means.. No way enough people volunteer for a buyout right now. Especially people in the 55-60 range.

The big news that affects everyone is not far away, I'm afraid. I would say with United announcing mass layoffs and with additional bad news coming from the airlines, the trickle down effect is going to turn into a water fall.

People put in their time, most people with 20 years have aerospace background, and not related to someone AND not Homedepot or warehouse experience!

I left Collins Aerospace Melbourne, Fl in Sept. 2020. Went to another company making $4 dollars more per hour. I left because of promoting "friends" into higher positions when I was just as qualified. The tattle tailing to managers was over the top. Back stabbing over the top. Not family any more. I found out I was making 2 cents more then someone walking through the door with NO experience. That was the final straw. Mind you I was always at work overtime I was there quality was very good my production was very good. Glad I left when I did, I do miss some friends tho we see each other outside of work. Sad for them they have to be furloughed or take voluntary buy back.

I am so happy I left that company. I have never worked for such a poorly managed company with no accountability and poor leadership. This company does not care about its employees and the benefits are terrible especially the healthcare benefits. There are people in their jobs that are not qualified to do the jobs, but hired because of knowing someone. The wages are not competitive compared to other companies for the same job even in states that have a lower cost of living. Take it as a blessing if you get laid off. You can do better.

I would take it in a heartbeat if I qualified. I hope they offer voluntary layoffs for younger employees rather than involuntary layoffs.

The merger had already been approved weeks before the company started doing furloughs and pay cuts. The part that irked me was how they acted like it was a really exciting time
"Oh look everyone, it's Day One at RTX!... Isn't this great!" Sure it's great if you work on the DOD side and didn't take a pay cut. I guess we were supposed to get excited because a handful of 1 percenters lined their pockets even more.

It seems in the department I work in that the long-time employees work every hour of overtime possible to maintain their lifestyle. I agree that most will not accept the buyout, pending the final amount offered. I cannot believe this merger went through during a global pandemic; 10 days after they announced furloughs, wage freezes, layoffs, and selling of more divisions. I realized there would be changes, but good grief people!

I work for Collins at Wolverhampton UK, There are a few old hands here who would be glad to take the strain off the younger hands,so they can continue to their employment free of worry.
Hopefully things will pick up, but it won’t be for some time.
