Same thing happened to me....7 years in and I get the boot. After 12 months of being let go you lose time of service and payscale. The new payscale is half the pay....Half the pay. I doubt if any of us will be called back before 12 months.

I got my notice Monday. I was out on furlough for six weeks and HR just made it permanent. A few weeks before the furlough the VP of Supply Chain said he had great plans for our site. Maybe a year before that some Aviation bigwigs were on a "bus" tour like Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters and said everything was peaches and cream. They should have told me to plan and buy some new sneakers. You are going to need them while you hunt for a new job.

Any updates on layoffs GE Rutland? I heard the offer for workers to take early retirement is $20,000. About half that are offered it are declining? I am expecting the axe to come down on me. I am hired in the group of the last 100 people. Less than a year of service.

The top is laying the bottom off to get their cash bonus before bankruptcy.
Make sure you say thanks to all the visionary OMLP program elite leaders when you leave.

GE Aviation is very top heavy. Wondering if the layoffs are cross-sectional or are they simply shop floor workers?

I had all of my 401k invested in GE stock. I have lost six figures over the last couple of years. Now the company is going to lay me off. There aren't any good jobs out there, if any at all. I am too young to retire.
