Hmmmm...

“The Layaff Nalco” doesn’t seem to have any activity today, or even this year...at ALL.

Smooth sailing on the other side ?

They went too far this time. From upstream to downstream, from analytical to supply chain. Great people were laid off. Managers who keep on losing business until now decided the fate of these great people. If you check skill sets of these great people, you will see how the current mid-level management is destroying the chemical division. Those managers should have privileges to be removed in the business standpoint.

Technically, Sugar Land is now weaker than ever. Poor planning and management for years has gotten us here and for what? To prop incapable leaders up and groom them to dance around the organization leading areas they are unfamiliar with? Promotions have been based on management preference - who likes who - and not necessarily on performance.

These leaders shut down subordinates that can be a threat to them, lay off the experience because they’re 2x the cost of the newbie, and think “gaining” is by reducing headcount and talent. The culture is rotten to the core.

Let’s see how this pays off in the long run.

Unfortunately, managers decided who would leave. Those people doesn't care about the skill sets of people and company businesses. They found excuses and lying to upper management. That's why the market is shrinking and competitors gain market.

It has been too easy for people to hunker down and hide in Baker Hughes chemicals. Unfortunately, in this cycle a lot of really good people will get caught up in the layoffs. The hiders should have been culled some times ago. Weak management and matrix management to blame.

Agree. While some come early morning and work from offices but some “work” from home. They show as inactive or away for hours. Don’t even work from home. It’s not fair. I don’t know where the management is. Either make everyone work from offices or all from home. No privileges or discrimination.

I wish good luck for everyone, but not the ones that slacker and work from home in upstream chemicals. For years they have been doing nothing at home. They should be let go.

Round two of three coming up after Memorial Day. All chemical offices going to be culled even more than the first culling.
