VERP Offer

Feel like jcp waiting until deadline to accept or decline verp offer before they go forward with possible bankruptcy. Deadline for decision on VERP is May 15. Frustrating that you are being asked to decide on this while stores are still closed

Got my separation date today. The date is tomorrow. Not much notice. They'll send the waiver within 10 business days and then, once I return it, I can start the retirement process. Good luck people. I have a feeling that we'll be envied.

I’m not taking it but my paper work says your separation date will be given to you no later than 6-1 and that the date for separation could be as far out as March of 2021.

I was told anywhere from June 1 through December 31 and your manager gives you the termination papers

Sounds like a lot of reasons to go either way. I know people that would need to find a new job and they said they won’t even be able to look until they get their termination date. If you leave before your date you lose the offer. Also know people staying since they have six weeks vacation a year and don’t want to give that up yet.

Your manager or HR supervisor is suppose to give you the termination paper and the dates to be let go June 1 through Dec 31 depends on store business

Honestly the writing is on the wall if you don’t expect this offer chances are your position will be eliminated. Or hours cut to where you won’t be able to pay bills, put gas in car and food on the table. This is just my honest opinion I’ve been with them for a while and I’m taking the offer. You can always get another job in grocery or retail (Target & Walmart) they need help and if we have to shut back down these are essential businesses.

In the paperwork they are telling us it’s better than the Verp offered 3 years ago

The offer isn’t that good. Just ups your pension payout. No severance included. Probably worth it for those at or soon to reach 62 because they could take social security benefits early. In my case I will turn 60 over the summer. Would have to find another job as I work full time here presently. With the shutdowns there won’t be much of a job market for awhile, therefore: will probably decline offer and go back and hope for the best.

It is very frustrating !! U get 4 weeks to decide. I don't know what to do I have been a JCPenney employee for 20 years. But I AM afraid if I don't take offer they will let me go anyway. Is in writing u Future working for the company is not garante. And same offer would to be offered. To get a financial planner to help you , I always wanted to retired but not under this condition..

Something strange is going on. Georgia had one of the earliest statewide reopenings in the country. Yet, I don't see any Georgia stores open (even for curbside) on the JCP website.

Bed Bath and Beyond furloughed their employees through 5/16...but they actually came out and told people that. JCP is keeping things quiet for some reason.
