A discussion with an LF member about what went wrong.... not surprising. Our leader was chosen in a BOD run-around because he’s a “good old boy” and a perfect example of the Peter Principle. Our next ELT member rode the coattails of getting on the Hi-Pot list as an apparently hotshot Reservoir Engineer... his Scottish accent fooled almost everyone. Our last one is the typical smug drilling engineer jerk who sees himself better than anyone else on the planet. Just ask him. These arrogant narcissists refuse to listen to opinions that don’t match theirs and don’t understand the theory of Confirmation Bias from their sycophant family of brown-nosers, but meanwhile pretend to do this with uncertainty discussions and scenarios plans reviewed ad infinitum.
Look at every major project in our portfolio: over budget, first production delayed, peak production not matched, total reserves less. Championed by Friends of the ELT (F-ULT). And is there anything to like about Exploration?
We’re all in a Groundhog Day loop of repeating the same mistakes again and again as our in-over-their-heads overseers examine thousands of man-years of wasted planning consolidated into beautiful presentation packages. We’ve had layoffs every year since 2015 except the one year the useless bureaucrats in Houston got flooded. Now after years of non-preparation and vanity projects, vanity friends of the ELT, vanity processes and useless expensive consultants, we will again cut costs, lay-off people, and sell assets. Where will this lead us? The end is disposition of the last remaining part of the company in total and golden parachutes for all or “leaders”.
