Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Bumping when your work moves?

Is it true that if your work moves you can bump to that location if you have seniority?

Seems like moving to follow your work is kind of like climbing the corporate ladder, depends on.... well you know the rest of the story.

I don’t recall the CN, CP or CSX crashing. Nor is UP. Job losses yes. Crashing? No.

Hopefully no one really believes it's temporary. Folks, Harrison and Vena did this exact same thing at the CN and the CP. Fritz and Vena will do anything it takes to keep shareholder profits up. This includes closing any location. NO LOCATION IS SAFE! This is the exact same path the CN took before it started crashing. The same goes for the CP as well. This information can be looked up for viewing. Check it out

The reality is yes,no, maybe. Depending on what craft , location, cercomstance. Your General chairman if not informed ahead of time should call foul and file grievance . If notified in advance not one day! He or she should have definitive answers for the rank and file. U.P. let's no crisis go to waste.

Since these are considered short term and not shop closures you probably cant bump off your roster. With denver and south morrill shut down and sold off they could take their seniority where the work went. Going to be hard convincing someone that work transferred somewhere else.

I would skip your local rep. And go to a national rep. The local reps are useless at this railroad..

Yes, but only in certain circumstances. Way too long to try an explain via texting on a website
