So word came down today that Linwood, NC hump yard is closing and there will be no trains originating or ending out of the yard. C and S members have already been told they no longer have jobs and Shortly The locomotive shop and car shop will be told.

Another sad sad day
My thoughts go out to fellow railroaders in Linwood. Another sad display of uncheck greed it make’s me extremely sad at utter contempt of these major shareholders and the people who do there bidding Karma will get to u some day . This my fellow workers is what is truly destroying our country Major Corporations and the greedy hedge funds that own them
So how many years seniority do you need to still be employed at linwood as a carman?

Fuel pad is closed. Employees found out yesterday that the fuel delivery company was told to stop delivering fuel. Including employees who were out on medical they laid off all 13 machinists- 0 left. 16 electricians- all but 5 laid off and 11 F&O - only 2 left. Both over 30 years of senority. NS just spent several million dollars doubling the size of their shop. At the last minute they stripped the money for the overhead crane and platform. And oil and water plumbing. Since the money has already been paid to the contractors they will still be out working on finishing the building that no one will be there to use.

Well told yall. Got our walking papers today. Only keeping 2 machine operators and 5 electricians. Linwood is gone.

If there will be flat switching, then there must still be a yard. They are just not humping any longer

They said they were going to flatten the hump in Roanoke to make the yard bigger because Linwood yard wasn't working like they wanted. Might be some truth to this.
