They can’t think of anything new and just piggyback off of existing ideas while other networks and streamers deliver new stuff. Don’t get me started the the atrocious TRL reboot. The person who created the list of “hits” deserves a gold medal
How about MTV leeching off of the recently successful and completely organic DNice dance parties on IG? God forbid they come up with their own idea. I’m sure we’re going to see a rash of new dating shows given the success of Netflix’s The Circle, Love is Blind and Too Hot to Handle. Still remember the head of MTV development saying dating shows were tired and played out. Not to long ago they also wanted to get into the real crime space followng Netflix hits in that genre. These geniuses are always late to the party. The fix is in.

There are more revivals waiting in the wings. Chris, Nina etc have built their “success” on the backs of other brands. They don’t inspire confidence from people in the ranks. We and the wider industry know it’s a sham. It’s grim to still be here. Chris/Bob can try and spin ratings growth and tout digital streams all they want in town halls but ViacomCBS is a sinking ship.

As a former Viacom employee, life is better out of 1515. I know a lot of MTV news was let go but look at the former news staffers who all left as a group a few years ago. They are writing some of the best pop culture/music stuff in the internet and not bound by the people who don’t recognize talent and just want Rita Ora to happen.
My heart goes out to those who are getting let go.
Also watch out they will use this opportunity to get rid of the people that they’ve been wanting to but just didn’t have the cause just now under the guise of the merger. So know your rights..

MTV, VH1 and Logo have not had one novel or fresh show since Chris and Nina came on board. The “successful” shows they take credit for predate them.
