Or at least until we have a vaccine, which will not be any time soon? I'm seriously considering changing my job to something that doesn't require interaction with customers every single day because if these last several weeks have thought me anything, that's that majority of people are...not that smart (I don't want to be banned for what I really wanted to say.)

I worry more about the customers than I do the virus.
Some customers are on the crazy train with their behaviors. At my store we had a customer screaming at a pregnant cashier that she was lazy and wasting his time when she sat on a stool while she waited for an item number. Another customer complained that no one would help them in paint (they wanted rung up in paint to avoid the lines - no register). Other loudly complain about having to push mulch and pavers into the store from the garden center and loudly ask why we don’t have it open. Others have tried to incite people in the line outside to rush the store because they are tired of waiting.
Management stands there and does nothing; they are so afraid of customer complaints and loosing their jobs that they allow customers to behave like animals.
Well thier is a good chance you’ve already had it and may have immunity. I’m going to get an antibody test as soon as proven one is available.
You just have to take your own precautions. Some of the biggest outbreaks have come in non customer facing jobs. Unless you get a customer service job that allows you to work from home or something akin to that there’s still exposure. Stay safe everyone
