Total bs. Effective May 2020 you get paid the full price for only 85% of your March production BUT they purchased Dean Foods for $433 million.
This is what the monopoly of agriculture has created in the dairy, beef, & pork sectors. One or very few mega cooperatives or corporations have the farmers of this country in a strangle hold. DFA is hardly farmer controlled.
There is not too much milk being produced. This virus hysteria started like what happens down south when it snows an inch only it happened on a national level- everyone rushed to the stores to buy milk and bread (and in this case toilet paper). Retailers responded by putting a limit on the number of those things that customers could buy and many are still abiding by those limits. Still can't buy more than 1 gallon of milk or 1 package of toilet paper at a time despite milk not really being scarce.
There’s too much milk being produced nationally. The only way to make the supply come in line with demand is to put restrictions or penalties on members. They have to reduce the herd and not continue to expand production . The saying going goes “ the cure for high farm milk prices, farmers make more milk. The cure for low farm milk prices,, the farmers make more milk. If left to their own devices. Do DFA and many other co ops including Pririe ,have to use the price cut (Base/excess plans ) to save the farmers form themselves.

A dairy co-op is a lot like a union. At one time they served a purpose and provided benefits to their members, but now they're just out to make money and the only way to do that is to make it near impossible to quit once you're in.
DFA is the largest, but there are a lot of dairy co-ops that are just as shady.
