Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

Layoffs of furloughed workers

It is layoff day at Noble. Minimal severance. 6 months of cheap insurance. I don't know anyone who is part time or full time that has been affected yet, but I'm still waiting to hear.

A lot of Noble management has BP experience in their resumes. That is why Noble is sometimes called BP Lite.

“Minimal Severance”... Noble is truly the K-Mart of the oil and gas industry.

Hey Noble management. Apparently GAP training has not provided the “breakthrough” thinking that was promised. Maybe you can get your money back from them?

Laid off people we’re probably “old” and suddenly poor performers. This seems to be the “Noble way”. Age discriminators that they are.

Not all furloughed are getting laid off. Knock on wood!

Is it only furloughed workers getting laid off? No one else?

I feel bad for Noble employees. But I’m not a bit surprised. I’ve been in this business for 35 years. As a former employee I can say Noble is the worst run oil and gas company I’ve ever been associated with. Thank God I moved on when I did!

Meanwhile, BP's CEO announces that they will continue paying their dividend and not lay off or furlough anyone in their workforce. The primary difference between Noble and BP is the investment portfolio. Noble went all in on unconventional resource plays and believed it would achieve a risk-free 30% ROR for every well it drilled. Didn't exactly work out that way.
$2B write down for Marcellus.
$1B write down for Rosetta.
$1B write down for Clayton Williams.
Probably more to come.
It was not your fault you got laid off.
