Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Decom, Renewables, Global Subsea and Tourism to usher in new decade of success and wealth for Aberdeen and it’s City

So much investment going on in the city because everybody knew oil is volatile hence we do not have to worry about this lates crisis.

We have been through them many times and always come out on top and become even wealthier than before. Don’t worry about a few negative media headlines as this will pass and is always exaggerated anyway and only fools really believe it

Aberdeen is the place to be

I’ve had it with the Granite City. Sold my flat and bought a nice 3 story down by Swiss Cottage. With what’s left iver I’ll probably buy a little pub and try not to drink the profits LOL! Well it was nice while it lasted, take care everyone, don’t work too hard!

Depends what you mean by 'losses' - if they bought pre-2014 with a large mortgage then they are probably stuck with big -ve equity and a shortfall to make up to the bank via, in most cases, hot air.

2nd huge downturn in less than a decade - 1) younger people would be 'insane' to give this industry a cursory glance, 2) even more people will chuck it never to return.

Aberdeen as a city in pretty big trouble - especially when the bonds that Aberdeen City took out need to be paid back...

Don't have to worry? Well, I beg to differ. There are plenty of people being made redundant at the moment, some families with both earners now seeking 'dole' money. With no oil and gas recruitment for the foreseeable future expect to see plenty of homes for sale at reduced prices. With some families having to take large losses due to the crazy prices Aberdeen has had for far too long.

How about putting CO2 in the old oil and gas reservoirs instead of the atmosphere. Better hurry before decom removes the infrastructure and the opportunity.
