I stayed at Viacom for about 15 years before I left a couple years ago for another opportunity. Looking back I was constantly fearing layoffs. No idea why I and so many stayed for so long in such conditions.

I heard something this week is happening. Same as every week since I started almost 2 years ago...
Jerks laid me off and I didn't get a severance, I'd been there for 12 years. 2 years before I got laid off they had changed my contract to being a Permalancer. They told me that I no longer qualified for severance. I'm now convinced they were lying. I suppose I could have fought it somehow, maybe sued them, but I was too busy trying to find a new job and not lose everything. I'm still raw about it. I feel like an id–t and they tried their best to make me feel worthless. I didn't even get a thank you note or email.
Damn, my thoughts exactly, It's amazing how many times I've had a conversation with my spouse to say "let's see how this week goes before we make that big purchase". We should know this week.
God bless you and your amazing freedom on the way! If you receive another stay, make new friends and light up the interior darkness. If you get set free, set the world ablaze!
You are not alone.
Most people exit viacom in a layoff.
You've accepted this whether you realize it or not.
Most people ride it out until the end. Get your package and laugh as you move on to healthier situations.
If you survive now dont forget another round is sooner than you think.
Good luck to everyone.
