Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Texas has a great idea...Retail To Go!!!

AKA...BOPS

Welcome USA to what we call BOPS here at Macy's

As seen on 5NBCNEWS...
As of Friday, retail stores across Texas were able to start offering “retail to go” after being closed to the public for several weeks.
A customer would place an order either online or phone then pick it up outside the store’s designated area.

It’s called Curbside Pickup. Macy’s is actually innovating.

This may be a good start up but certainly is not sustainable for growth. Not sure the useage will even pay the rent or utilities.

I'm also in TX and this is laughable. Yes, its great if you can order online from the web site and pick up at store. But imagine just calling up the store and saying "I'm looking for a blue blouse, can you bring me some to the curb so I can decide?" Or look at it like this, think back when you went shopping how many times you browsed through the store, how many things you held up and said "nah..." before you actually bought something. The IDEA sounds great only because its similar to going back to normal. But in practice, I can't imagine shopping like this working out. The ones that are happy about it aren't actually doing any shopping. They're just wanting this all to end (just like we all do).

This won't completely make up for lost foot traffic, but at least it's something.

Yep. Texan here & I work in DFW area. We actually have a store doing this: Northpark in Dallas. It is one of our 3 area Growth 150 stores. The other 2 are not participating in retail to go , though. At least not yet.
