Thread regarding Pembina Pipeline Corp layoffs

Pembina layoff severance is offensive!

After speaking with an employment lawyer, the PPL layoff severance is, in his opinion, the most cowardly and offensive severance in his long career in oil & gas. Offering minimum Canadian law standards to professionals in a time of zero ability to obtain future employment speaks volumes to their lack of commitment to taking proper care of the people that work(ed) there. Maybe they should have started with executive salary cuts like all the other companies have?

These severances are unjust and deserve to be contested. If you agree, please post here!

I was one of them.
The package was an insult to me , my position, years working at the organization.
Pembina has absolutely no good faith for their employees and they ALWAYS think about management VP before anyone else.
I had no choice but to signed.
Suncor CEO took a 50% cut in salary, Directors a 25% and any other manager 10% so they can support their employees...

Good luck waiting Mr. Dilger and his troops to do that..

Pembina was nothing but a very disappointing employer.

Thinking out loud here. These garbage severance packages were lazily designed by HR to make themselves look good. Honestly, I doubt Mick has any idea how tragic this exercise was to his former staff.

Brutal. As stated above, these are absolutely unprecedented times. Layoffs needed to occur but Pembina elected to provide staff who were recently laid off this week with the absolute bare minimum of severance and not a penny more. They then doubled down and cut our health care coverage giving us very little time to co-ordinate and obtain any remaining services available during the new Covid-19 world (pr-scrip-ions for our family, glasses for our daughter, etc.). I won't speak ill of Pembina as this post hopefully highlights my feelings. Also noted above, having a lawyer review severance is a good idea. Just very disappointed in the company that was home for many years. The truth always comes out eventually. Hoping the very best for everyone during these challenging times. Take care.

Everyone at Pembina who recieved a severance package needs to have it reviewed by a lawyer ASAP before signing anything. What they have done is flip us a middle finger on our way out (reality check to anyone still employed at Pembina who may wonder how they would be treated in a similar circumstance. Seriously, start plotting your next career move now during work hours at home while you can via a seperate device and don't wait for the peanuts you will get from the corporation). In my opinion, the entire process was so sloppily executed (it is Pembina) and every professional I have shown the letter to so far (HR family member and lawyer) were shocked it came from a multi-billion dollar publicly traded company. Hopefully the process is better for the next round of staff who are inevitably shown the door!
