I feel bad for Floridians. The local government purposely effed up the unemployment system to make it hard to collect – https://www.wfla.com/community/health/coronavirus/florida-unemployment/broken-by-design-florida-labor-unions-petition-for-immediate-change-to-unemployment-system/
Could depend on state. All seem different. Some came thru right away, others dragged their feet. Plus all saw numbers they could not keep up with.
"However, the 3 wks we were paid disaster pay i didnt get unemployment"
You shouldn't be getting unemployment checks during these weeks because YOU RECEIVED DISASTER PAY.
You don't get both.
Im a full time employee in NJ and macys coded me as a independent contractor so minimal benefits here.....filed a ticket and response was "work with NJ employment office to re-apply" kinda hard to do that since there is no tangible method to reach NJ UI. Thanks HR..
Depends on state. Actually when the announcment was made around 3/29, I filed immediately and my state approved it.
It's because if your an hourly associate you weren't suppose to file till April 1 because that was the day we were furloughed or laid off
I'm in Florida I haven't even gotten my first check..
Depends on the state, has nothing to do with Macy's. Everyone needs to study their state policy to understand this. Some states will pay you for the difference between your regular earnings and what you got while underemployed, others only will if you didn't earn over your states maximum benefit for hours worked that week.. Some states consider emergency closure pay as severance (you didn't work at all) and you qualify for benefits those weeks, others don't. Again, if it's considered severance and you earned over your weekly benefit amount, you still won't get more money. None of this is Macys fault.
Yes and even though they say you can get back pay, it may not ever show up in your account, I live in Garden City Long Island, I filed on March 19th and have not gotten a dime, then I got a letter saying my claim was being “looked at for further review”, don’t count on unemployment it’s very spotty.
