Listened to a talk show this morning about how companies are stepping up for their employees while this virus thing goes on. I was brought to tears by caller who said Pepsi cut hundreds of older workers over the past two years. They were forced to give up a good portion of benefit coverage and retirement benefits as a condition of their severance. Many of these people have no chance of getting another job now. Many are scared to leave their house and some are trying to make ends meet while caring for sick family members. Pepsi goes on social media trying to beef up their public image by bragging about all the good things they are doing. I will never drink another Pepsi.

after i was laid-off by Pepsico , and by a medical check-up , was discovered there where kidney-stones , which gradually found their natural way out , after analysis the origin coud be found aither in cola either in chocolate , it was a relief to p*ss them all out , no more Pepsi of course
A year with benefits? Try again. Best case scenario is a week for every year you’ve been with the company and that goes up the higher you are (I.e. two weeks for every year potentially) zero benefits but the option to pay outrageous cobra for the length of your severance. I heard all routing intelligence in Plano is going to be outsourced sometime this year or early next.
Don’t expect a whole bunch of compassion if your cut. Even people who were cut over the past couple of years were denied retirement benefits and forced to give up other benefits as a condition for accepting severance.
I’m retiring and my last day is next week. Anyone offered severance now will see it greatly reduced. Probably just a year with benefits. They Days of huge Cadillac severance are over. With more and more being moved to India they can just reshuffle. They eliminated all fleet admin roles. Eventually other admin roles will follow. You’ll prob see the CSC reorganizing and consolidating as well. Those jobs can be done by IK’s brethren in India as well. Eventually you’ll even see delivery changes happening as well. I’m thankful I’m leaving at this time. Wishing all my colleagues the best
Big-time layoffs will have to come. Hopefully, they offer buyouts to long time employees who are willing to leave.
I agree those who got out early were lucky. I see dark clouds ahead as entire global impact of china virus is felt and looming recession. Capital expenditures must be frozen and no more shares buybacks. Major layoffs are likely in near term.
We can be lucky that we are the ones who got our severance and left Pepsi earlier. In view of current situation, when the bottom is badly hit, there might be another massive layoff and they could even be taking the opportunity to reduce the severance. Who knows for those who left earlier, it can be blessing in disguise.
I also was within 2 years of full retirement when I got the axe last year. Performance means nothing. It’s where you fall in the matrix of how many long term employees they want to purge and PepsiCo has the Gaul to try to show how compassionate they are while stabbing you in the back. We drink ABP (Anything But Pepsi) and eat Utz chips now.

I bought the T-shirt as well. I was within a couple of years of retirement and worked for Pepsi for most of my working life. When I see all the hype about PepsiCo stepping up with added benefits and hiring new workers I loose my mind.
I'm in that laid off boat. Pepsi products are as welcome in our house as the corona virus itself.
Spoken like a true Pepsi leader. Remember to smile and recite your “team”‘ speech once you leave the privacy of your office.
Like I tell everyone, I work for Pepsi but drink Coca Cola.
I fear there will be more massive layoffs as bottom line will be hit. Will they stop and rethink their stock buyback. Of course not. It is folks in the frontline who are putting their lives at stake and this publicity exercise does not hold much water considering what many have been thru. Who is in front of is dedicated employee not outsourced third parties.
Stay safe and God protect everyone.
PepsiCo is like the Titanic after it struck the iceberg. The executives and shareholders are treated first class and are allowed on the lifeboats while all others are offered free swimming lessons only if they sign a non-disclosure agreement absolving the company from any liability.
