Thread regarding Dean Foods Co. layoffs

10k is wonky -

Shipping and handling costs that were recorded as a component of selling and distribution expense were $1.2 billion in 2019, $1.2 billion in 2018 and $1.2 billion in 2017.

They need to investigate their shipping aspects its confusing on how they lump these costs together and there is probably money that could be better accounted for if they spent time on it.

I'm not an expert but it also looks like they could have added a line together where they should have subtracted in the reorg fees area. Specific to the Prepetition Liability they claim.

With the closing of plants the distribution costs rose and no one can hide that . It is the loss of business only that could make it balance like that. Of course if you live in a cabin in NY and never faced charges it would never show up on the balance sheet anyway. great hide or great hideaway?

LOL. Straightening out the accounting at this point is only going to happen if there are lawsuits and that will only make the lawyers more money. None of it really matters anymore. Everything of value will start to get turned over to new owners in a few weeks and soon after that Dean Foods will cease to exist as an ongoing business.
