GE JUST TOLD US NO WORK FOR NEXT 48 HOURS TO CLEAN FROM COVID-19, BUT THE DAYS COME OUT OF OUR VACATION TIME

They just got notified of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Rutland plant. We new this was going to happen. They said not to come into work until Wednesday, but we aren't going to be paid during those two days. Ya'll, sh– is about to hit the fan. Pray for food stamps. GE is f—ed up and clearly doesn't care about employees.

I heard approximately 20 people are in quarantine because they might have had contact with the infected worker in Rutland. Is this true?

They should offer everyone with over 30 yrs a SERO30 and anyone over 60 an early out.. Reevaluate from there.

It's been three days. Employees dont have to use there time for a plant closure. They will be paid for the three days normal pay not using there time. Just to clear that up.

Can you get carry your existing Medical Benefit out of your own pocket to Medicare age ?

Yes you may, but it may be very expensive. I took medicare and was quoted $875 p/m for my wife [not eligible for medicare yet] back in 2017. Opted for cobra for her instead. Your HR person should explain clearly that to you.

I know all of this is unprecedented and we all know where G.E. Rutland is with delivery and the lean process. That being said, I don't feel like that the employees are even being considered. Two days to clean.. without actually knowing how many have been in contact with the virus?? People can work without symptoms for days. I pray that no one else gets sick. After all, that is what G.E supposedly says is the most important thing.

Good luck up there. Greenville has at least 2 suspected cases on campus from early last week, but the test results of those tests still haven't been released. Management sent some of the more useless engineers home as a "precaution", but the rest of us have had to keep showing up anyway. We have no idea if we're going to be turned away tomorrow morning at the gate or what.

Should we all be looking for a new job at this point? Assume GE is going to fire all salaried personell?

btw,“We are contacting employees who had close contact with this co-worker and asking them to self-quarantine,” the statement read. “This action is being taken in conjunction with public health officials and is consistent with CDC guidance.”"

Two work days?? A normal 16 work hours??? This is too much for you to deal with before it will create chaos??? I don't know what's worse, the many people working for GE or the few who are running it.

"Pray for food stamps. GE is f—ed up and clearly doesn't care about employees" - - I'm sorry, but if you're looking for food stamps after not getting paid for TWO DAYS, you've had much bigger issues with your finances long before COVID19.

Ever hear of "saving for a rainy day?" Or "Live within your means?" Just saying

If they really have everyone come back in after 2 days of cleaning, more ppl are definitely going to get sick
